Strictly restarts this Saturday when it will be the pairing up of celebs and pros..... which may even be less cringe-making than usual. grin

I don't know many of this year's celebs, but nothing new to that, and no doubt I shall get hooked in as usual.

When the casting vote went to Shirley that was only going to go one way. I’m sad for Shayne and Nancy. I think they deserved to go through. Wynne and Katya’s dance was more Katya than Wynne 😞

Sparklefizz Sun 10-Nov-24 20:01:52

Yes, he was.

rafichagran Sun 10-Nov-24 20:01:38

I honestly thought this would be the outcome. I don't dislike Wynne but I knew Shirley would save him.
The above said Wynne was gracious and said he was happy to have got to week 8.

Allira Sun 10-Nov-24 20:00:15

Well, that's a pity.
Shane was better than Jamie or Wynne.

Sparklefizz Sun 10-Nov-24 19:57:41

Shirley said "One couple had a more joyous routine". Well, you can't have a joyous Rumba, can you??

I knew Shirley would save Wynne. She's favoured him all the way through.

Allira Sun 10-Nov-24 19:48:32

😯 Tasha!

You can't drive through Blackpool!

You've either never been or you go and visit.

Sparklefizz Sun 10-Nov-24 19:37:50

Very moving Remembrance Day dance from the pro's. I'm in tears.

Casdon Sun 10-Nov-24 18:08:25

People vote for him eazybee. He wouldn’t still be there unless the public vote kept him out of the bottom two. The judges power is limited, that’s why there are always poor dancers but good entertainers still there at this stage of the competition - if the public like them they stay. I can’t see him being there much longer though.

eazybee Sun 10-Nov-24 17:50:26

Still doesn't explain why Wynne keeps being retained, because he really isn't very good, and he doesn't seem to be a very sympathetic character.

Grannynannywanny Sun 10-Nov-24 16:02:57

I too think Shayne is at risk tonight. Especially if he’s in the dance off with Wynne. I really enjoyed Shayne’s dance last night and think he’s improving. The judges seem to love Wynne and I think would save him rather than Shayne.

Allira Sun 10-Nov-24 16:00:55

I just found this:

www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zjbhmfr#:~:text=Call%20in%20the%20experts&text=Prof%20Biggs%20shared%20his%20findings,the%20public%20score%20is%20added.

Interesting!

Casdon Sun 10-Nov-24 15:55:55

Yes Allira, the public vote determines who is in the bottom two, that’s why I fear for Shayne.

If Wynne is in the dance off is it not because he will have least number of votes ?

Yes, but then, as you know, he will have to dance against another person with a low number of votes, and the judges will decide who to save.

Could someone who is top or near top of the leaderboard be in the dance-off because the public didn't vote for them in sufficient numbers?
Or is the judging such that it would be statistically impossible?

Does anyone know?

rafichagran I agree Pete looking genuinely very emotional. But he’s being judged on his dancing and I don’t think it deserved a 10 from Shirley when she only managed to award Sarah and Vito’s great performance an 8. It’s very unfair.

It's obvious that Shirley always overmarks Pete.
I wonder why? 🤔

Casdon Sun 10-Nov-24 14:19:22

I think it’s likely that Shayne will go this week, he was second from bottom of the leaderboard, and he’s been in the dance off twice already. There are a few lurking, but he’s consistently had the lowest scores of everybody who is still there.

Anniebach Sun 10-Nov-24 14:03:32

Yes, thank you Sparklefizz thought so

Yes, poor Pete’s bottom lip wobbled dangerously at times.

Not his usual ‘cool, mean persona’.

And yes, his performance in no way warranted a 10, but an 8 for Sarah was about right last night.

I hate sob stories, but I will make a exception for Pete, this was genuine, he was quiet at the judges comments and trying to hold in his emotions, I could see it was hard for him. He us still genuinely grieving.
Also he is a very much improved dancer with no training. I find that commendable.

Calendargirl Sun 10-Nov-24 13:05:52

There shouldn’t be any standing ovations, from any judge, for any contestant, no matter how good their performance.

IMH(can’t dance at all)O.

Anniebach Sun 10-Nov-24 12:36:58

Mollygo Sun 10-Nov-24 12:23:39

You could be right about Wynne being kept in even if he’s in the dance off.
As a personal opinion, I wish they wouldn’t have those silly frilly pants costumes.

Grannynannywanny Sun 10-Nov-24 11:58:11

Shirley doesn’t even pretend to be an impartial judge. She clearly has her favourites. She really gets on my wick with her silly standing ovations for the chosen few 😡

Sparklefizz Sun 10-Nov-24 11:53:54

The judges' marking gets worse with each series.
