Strictly restarts this Saturday when it will be the pairing up of celebs and pros..... which may even be less cringe-making than usual. grin

I don't know many of this year's celebs, but nothing new to that, and no doubt I shall get hooked in as usual.

Forgot to say that Motsi gets right up my nose, BIG time!! When you compare her to the wonderful Darcy…..
Then there’s the dreadful Toyah! I suppose there’s nearly always one contestant that everyone loves qto hate, and she’s it this year, for me. If she tosses that silly head much more, I shall have to start fast-forwarding her! This is why I never watch Strictly live. I’d never survive, but if I can fast forward most of it and only show the dancers worth watching, I’ll survive!

Crossstitchfan Sat 28-Sept-24 00:14:41

My main problem with Strictly is the presenters. Claudia is bearable, if a bit off the wall, but Tess……can’t stand her, she really grates on me and to my mind, is just there as the token blonde. She is pretty useless really and plays to the camera too much.
I, like others, can’t be bothered with seeing where the dancers went to school, and I certainly have no interest in the towns they live in. I just want to see the dances and the judging. The rest of it is just filling. Shape up, Strictly or you’ll lose me too!

You and me both Marilla! I’m fed up with the same old pap. All the fillers and goings on. I still like to see the dresses but shan’t be watching until much later on. It’s boring boring boring. Don’t get me started on the Halloween week that they will go on about in a few weeks. It’s just relentless …… keeep whinging lol. I can’t bear to watch yet

I think toyah will be first out. So annoying all that head tossing!
My dh likes it otherwise Iwould be recording it and fast forward a lot of the talking. I thought Chris did really well.

Dinahmo Mon 23-Sept-24 12:03:49

I confess that I always enjoy the dancing in Strictly. The amount of talk involving family and friends is annoying but I thought that had reduced slightly last year. It could be further reduced.

I haven't heard of most of the contestants but then I don't watch soaps or programmes like Love Island.

Have never liked Toyah Wilcox - fed up already with her boasting about her achievements and reminding us of her age. There have been several contestants much older than her. I hope that she is the first to be voted off.

I just caught up with it last night and enjoyed it. I thought Chris was amazing to have made such progress.

Motsi and Shirley seemed determined to get the better of Craig and I was surprised he tolerated it. He’s now got Chris on his case. I wonder if he’ll be back to his grumpy self next week 😆

DanniRae Sun 22-Sept-24 18:11:57

I LOVED IT and look forward to seeing it next week!! smile

aggie Sun 22-Sept-24 17:20:12

I enjoyed the show , I’m sure it will be better when the numbers are whittled down a bit

Sara1954 Sun 22-Sept-24 16:59:53

Agree about Motsi, very loud and annoying, and very rude. Craig looks gorgeous.
I wanted to enjoy it, and I did, I think it will be a good year, I text my friend after about ten minutes, to say Motsi is already annoying me, she agreed.

NotAGran55 Sun 22-Sept-24 16:00:23

I never watch it live as I can’t stand all the fillers. Always record it and flick through. I first started to watch it when Robbie Savage was on and only watched his dances then!
I watch a bit more now, but never the entire show.

Esmay Sun 22-Sept-24 15:15:37

I made tea .
I made some snacks .
I messaged my friends and I was glad when it finished .
I kept thinking that it would improve , but it didn't .
Gone are the days when I'd want to stay in to watch it and when I did I'd be WhatsApping my friends to ask their opinion about the dancing .
Today , I've not met one person , who watched and enjoyed it .
I found Motsi deafening and I'm puzzled as to why Craig has become less critical .

Why does Motsi SHOUT ALL THE TIME?

I have never liked her and due to this, I like her even less now!

Crossstitchfan Sun 22-Sept-24 15:02:18

Marilla

I used to really enjoy Strictly, but I am tired of the same old format. The fillers for example with the journey of the celebrities. Dance couples out visiting places to get a flavour of what they need to put into the dance that week.
It’s all just padding. Daft props that are used for seconds in the opening of a dance. Oh God I could go on. I don’t think I’m watching it this year! 😄

I second that! It’s getting annoying now!

Ilovedogs22 Sun 22-Sept-24 15:00:42

Yes, Craig looks blooming fabulous! 😍

Ilovedogs22 Sun 22-Sept-24 14:57:57

Absolutely agree with you Carlotta 👍

Where you out of the room when Toyah was attempting the tango.
It wasn’t so much that she forgot the steps but made up her own as she went along 😱

Alongside the most peculiar head flicks ever seen on Strictly.

😳

Allira Sun 22-Sept-24 12:38:28

Craig looks rather dapper with his new beard 🙂

Calendargirl Sun 22-Sept-24 12:29:37

I thought both Motsi and Shirley were quite rude, talking over Craig and hardly letting him finish one of his summaries.

I agree that Motsi is too loud, and Anton appears to try and emulate Bruno at times, with extravagant gestures and OTT pronouncements.

Charleygirl5 Sun 22-Sept-24 12:24:17

I also thought the standard was high for week 1. I see next week we are back to the Sunday evening nonsense. It would have been better to remove the padding and have the show done and dusted on Saturday.

Somebody in the audience always spills the beans so we know in advance who is going out.

Again the standard will be very high in the last few weeks.

NotAGran55 Sun 22-Sept-24 12:20:49

Why does Motsi SHOUT ALL THE TIME?

eazybee Sun 22-Sept-24 12:08:01

I enjoyed it although there are too many couples and it lasted too long. I thought the standard of the dancing was high, considering there were some difficult dances for the untrained; everyone was on the beat, no-one forgot their steps and they all put on an entertaining performance. Toyah Wilcox needs to let go of the idea that she is a famous punk star and concentrate on her steps; she has the ability to improve but I think she likes to give an individual interpretation.

Clawdy Sun 22-Sept-24 11:56:58

Claudia's dress looked like something from Star Wars.

ferry23 Sun 22-Sept-24 11:05:37

I wonder if Diane choreographed that by herself or if she had some appropriate help?

It certainly wasn't an easy routine and even if there was some additional help, they clearly already have a great relationship to have been able to pull that off - hats off to both of them. He was considerably better than some of the others for sure.

w1u7 Sun 22-Sept-24 10:46:35

Loved the programme though Motsi got on my nerves. Some of the music was dreadful. For week one the standard was high. Chris was incredible. It made me feel very emotional
