Strictly restarts this Saturday when it will be the pairing up of celebs and pros..... which may even be less cringe-making than usual. grin

I don't know many of this year's celebs, but nothing new to that, and no doubt I shall get hooked in as usual.

Watched it on record, so skimmed through the intros and when the waffle got too tedious.
Johannes ✅, Chris and partner ✅ especially when you consider he can’t see what it’s supposed to look like. The singer✅ though I don’t think he’ll last long.

Gosh that was a bit of a marathon wasn't it?

Mixed bag for week 1 - definitely a few surprises.

Whoever chooses the music should be hung drawn and quartered - at least some attempt at dance appropriate music would be good. The American Smooth, the first Samba, the Paso and the Tango must have been nightmares to choreograph and probably one of the cha-chas as well.

I really “took” to Wyn , the opera singer. The few comments he made in both shows were very amusing. And his dancing will give him a good few weeks.

Grandmadinosaur Sat 21-Sept-24 21:29:23

He really is RosiesMaw2 and a such a gentle and lovely person.

RosiesMaw2 Sat 21-Sept-24 21:26:11

Isn't Johannes THE most elegant and graceful dancer?

Sparklefizz Sat 21-Sept-24 21:14:00

I loved Chris McC, and he certainly put Craig in his place!

Sweetpeasue Sat 21-Sept-24 21:09:32

Wow- Dance of the night for me. Johannes is as usual mesmerising too. Gladiator lady was just great- so sorry forgotten her name.

TillyTrotter Sat 21-Sept-24 21:09:30

Montel and Johannes - Wow! A great first dance.

Calendargirl Sat 21-Sept-24 21:07:19

I find it all a bit false somehow

‘False’ and ‘Forced’ are the two ‘F’s’ I feel apply to tonight’s show.

It’s as if they are trying too hard to make us forget all the stuff that’s gone on with the show in recent weeks.

Perhaps when the contestants reduce a bit it will seem better, but tonight has seemed to go on and on.

Allsorts Sat 21-Sept-24 20:59:57

I loved the opening dance, don't know some of the contestants.
Found myself on my i pad and wondering off making tea etc.. The magic has waned for me although they all work hard. I find it all bit false somehow. The footballer just was awful, why did they have him and why would he do it, he surely can’t need the money,

Calendargirl Sat 21-Sept-24 20:56:26

Only 3 couples left.

Thank goodness, it’s seemed very looong tonight.

rafichagran Sat 21-Sept-24 20:54:33

Paul Merson was funny and entertaining.

Sara1954 Sat 21-Sept-24 20:49:29

Merlotgran, I agree, awful, but
oddly I seemed to enjoy it. The public will probably keep him in

merlotgran Sat 21-Sept-24 20:44:49

Sparklefizz

Paul Merson - awful!

Entertaining though. 😂

Sparklefizz Sat 21-Sept-24 20:42:18

Paul Merson - awful!

rafichagran Sat 21-Sept-24 20:32:43

Allira

Toyah had a lot to overcome when she was young.
It's a wonder she has achieved what she has.

I agree with this. I always liked Toyah when I was younger.

Sparklefizz Sat 21-Sept-24 20:27:51

I agree Sweetpeasue - Sarah's quickstep was gorgeous.

rafichagran Sat 21-Sept-24 20:22:09

JB and Amy were brilliant. I am going against the grain here I liked Pete Wicks, he had attitude.

Sweetpeasue Sat 21-Sept-24 20:20:56

I loved that quickstep -quite a surprise - wasn't expecting that from Sarah Hadland. So good.

Calendargirl Sat 21-Sept-24 20:15:42

Is Pete Wicks related to Joe Wicks?

I had no idea who he was either.

Seems to love himself though.

TillyTrotter Sat 21-Sept-24 20:14:28

Yes. He does Podcasts as well apparently.

merlotgran Sat 21-Sept-24 20:12:01

TOWIE?

Not that that means anything. 😂

TillyTrotter Sat 21-Sept-24 20:11:13

Originated on “The Only Way Is Essex” .

Allira Sat 21-Sept-24 20:08:18

Pete Wicks?

No, me neither.

Sparklefizz Sat 21-Sept-24 20:02:56

Aaw .... Amy and JB - so graceful and elegant.
