I have organised a trip for 16 pensioners to the final on 24th September - can't wait!

Thank you for this information. The BBC doesn't publicise the Young Musician of the Year on its other channels.

We're in for a nice few Sunday evenings, annodomini!

Luckygirl3 - let me know if you have any spare seats😂

It was exciting to hear some music , which I don't know .
I think that it was composed by Lili Boulanger .

Lili Boulanger is wonderful... I once sang under her sister Nadia when she must have been well into her 80s ... quite an experience.
Loved the young harpist Jamal.
One of my DDS was once in the auditions for Young Musician .... she got no further, but I was still very proud of her.

I enjoyed it very much. Such talent. Not sure about the judges, though, apart from Alison Balsom.

I shall watch out for
Jamaal the harpist
Finn the cellist.

Both deeply moved me.

Until next Sunday ...

Interesting comment from Luckygirl3 .
Fascinating that you sang under Nadia Boulanger .
I looked up Lili and thought what a tragedy that she died aged 24 .
Imagine how much more she could have given to the world of music .

And her sister lived to be very old - but very active. Her conducting and musical direction were excellent and inspirational.

The BBC always keep this very low key but at least they are still broadcasting it! It’s such an important platform for launching the careers of young performers. But what did you think of the dumbing down? Judges in T shirts and ripped jeans … the young musicians had made more effort. And the venue? People walking in the corridor behind and buses going past. Not much of a sense of occasion for those who had put in hours and hours of practice daily for many years.
Btw I’m new on here. Anyone else a music student in London in the early 1960s?
