The Lady In The Van and Bed Among The Lentils are peak Maggie, absolutely superb. Very sad at her passing. RIP.

Brilliant series. ‘A chip in the sugar’ IIRC is another I remember.
As I’ve said elsewhere, we saw a theatre production of ‘Bed Among the Lentils’ with Maggie Smith. Superb!

A cream cracker under the settee is the proper title!

The one with Thora Hird was so sad. A cracker/crumb under the sofa.
I used to teach them to pupils.

Yes, the Maggie Smith one was the best, I think, followed by Patricia Routledge and the poison pen letters.

So, watching Maggie Smith in The Lady in the Van, led me to thinking of ths marvellous series by Alan Bennett, which I was delighted to fiind on BBC iPlayer. I had the monologues on an iPod ( remember them?) but am enjoying seeing the videos.
