The Ken Burns Series are very good, I’ve watched the Vietnam War, The History Of Country Music and The Civil War, there are many more.

Thanks for the tip. I love history programmes, watch a lot of you tube, better than than terrestrial tv, and will look this up.

We've watched some really excellent series, the one on Israel was really fascinating, the Irish Civil War, the Ottoman Empire and Korean war immediately come to mind.

Sitting in front of the tv this afternoon, recovering from an op, I noticed that PBS had a program about the fortresses around the Mediterranean that had been built at any time from the Romans onwards. I have visited some of them and I know that I will not be able to visit others, such as Aleppo or Craque de Chevalier because of wars and sadly, the current state in the Middle East.

During an advert break it was mentioned that PBS can now be accessed, for nothing, via You Tube. Which is why I have started this post, in case any are unaware of PBS.

The experts on this and other programmes are not just American but from The UK and Europe too.
