My Dad liked Elvis's music so we had a lot of his early records in the house.

Old film clips of him when he first started out show how much charisma he had and how impossibly handsome he was, as others say .... plus he had a fabulous voice. Such looks and talent and, as NanKate says, what a sad end to his life.

I'll definitely watch this. Thanks for the heads up MissA

I was wondering whether people had "work done" on their faces in Elvis' time, when I watched him last night.

He was almost doll-like, and impossibly handsome.

I suppose he was about 40ish or so...

A very sad life indeed. Such talent and potential turned sour by people seeking to profit from it. There are lessons I think, especially young women like Taylor Swift are learning, pity she doesn't have nearly as much talent or charisma.

He was undoubtedly handsome and talented, although a bit before my time and not really my scene anyway. However, he was a predator of underage girls. I know he was/is far from alone in the showbiz industry and nobody cared much in those days especially in America but even so, it was noted.

Love the joke Kate.

What a handsome talented man and what a sad end to his life.

Kate that is so funny. I’m 83 so Elvis was part of my youth. He was great. Still love him.

Elvis was a bit before my time but he was SO handsome. I discovered him later. My friend Valerie was mad about him when I was young. I went to see Blue Hawaii with her at the pictures. When he came down the river in the raft with his bride, Val stood up and shouted in her broad Brummie accent to the bride 'Tek yer bleedin hands orf him'.

It is a sort of montage of him at his best, I'd say, so you'll do Jean proud.

I will check this out over the weekend, thank you. I’m not a huge fan but my dear friend Jean who died three years ago was so I will watch it for her.

Is on BBC 4 if anyone is interested.

I'm not a fan, but it's really good, showing off his skills as a musician and singer. smile
