The new series of Shetland starts on November 6th at 21.00 on BBC1 and iPlayer. Ian Hart and Vincent Regan, both well kent faces are in it, as well as the returning Ashley Jensen (Ruth), Alison O’Donnell (Tosh), Steven Robertson (Sandy) and Lewis Howden (Billy). I was not a fan of the previous series so am hoping for both an improved storyline and acting this time.
Believable storylines for the next series, please. All those red herrings were just daft and why wasn't that poor wee boy given professional counselling? Now there is the question of Tosh's missing baby. They really must do better.
The baby's disappeared - Donnie is such a drip he might have left her/him in a shop somewhere and forgotten where. Shouldn't Tosh and Ruth be investigating?
It was a damp squib, I had to look up who the culprit was as she'd never featured in it much. Still not sure who she was, someone's sister?
I expected to hear more about the young Swedish girl and that there was in fact nothing wrong with her. Of course, I may have missed that if I 😴
Interesting side stories but the conclusion was mundane.
I agree about the red herrings- and just too many plot lines. The spy bit was pretty irrelevant, the mysterious research plant, the girl with the degenerative illness, the minister’s marriage and DI Calder’s “old flame” . Too many strands and then they ignore the one we were all familiar with -Tosh’s baby.
It was disappointing, I felt it could have been wrapped up in 4 episodes not 6. What was that Swedish couple and the research centre in it for? red herrings that's wot. As for the most unlikely spy in tv history, well he was a damp squib aswell. DI Calder doesn't cut it for me either, it seems you get to Inspector and turn grumpy, I don't think she smiled much at all, Perez was the same, must be the cold up there. No, I think I'm giving Shetland a miss from now on
I though it was good. All the ends tied up nicely. It's funny how we all see things differently? I so prefer these two women, far more than the miserable Douglas Henshaw part.
So, watched the final episode last night and I am still none the wiser. And as others have said, Tosh’s baby seems to have disappeared (and the boyfriend?) if they’re going to try to alter the back story they could have done better than this.
Being back Perez!!! I cannot watch Shetland with those two drippy women playing at being detectives! So sad, as I have loved this programme for so many moons! What on earth did Douglas Henshall even do or say to be ousted from this former gem of a programme?? 🤔
Yes, my question too. It is so terribly, terribly slow, and the men aren't allowed to do anything, although I much prefer Ashley Jensen and Tosh to the Grumpy Potato Perez.
