Am binge watching this series and it’s as good as the first…anyone else enjoying it. Excellent cast and great acting

It's OK. I found the central character's personality a bit off putting. She's not exactly warm.

Was she the actress who played in the bend it like Beckham film?

Bea65 Tue 29-Oct-24 13:11:17

Yes Parminder Nagra …was in BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM and she also starred in ER HOSPITAL DRAMA as a junior medic …she doesn’t seem to age at all😀

I thought she looked familiar @nd being face blind am thrilled I was right…grin

We are watching it but dozing in some parts as its a bit slow. I marvel at how she keeps that expressionless face for long periods.

Sadly, very dull,

Agree she has the serious work face because she’s trying to prove herself but when she entertains, she looks quite striking!

I too have heard good things about it. I asked if starting with series 1 would be better, I was told probably but it wasn't a necessity

Only a minor spoiler but….Did the police get the villain in the crashed car or did he get away? With everything that was going on to tie things up was he forgotten ? We will never know.

I agree. DH is sticking with it but I gave up after the first episode. .

We enjoyed the first series but haven't started the second one yet. We are looking forward to it so I hope we are not disappointed.

We watched it, but didn’t find it great. It was okay.

Ohh, I watched the very first episode of DI Ray & it just seemed a bit grubby!
Doggey coppers & underhand.
sleazy dealings. I don't want to go back to the day's of Dickson of Dock Green but equally I don't want to watch something that makes feel fearful & angry either. I loved Parminder in "Bend it like Beckham"
but this much anticipated series left me feeling cold & disappointed. 😏

I very much enjoyed it.

I don't care for gritty police dramas, while DH is watching it I read my book.
I am enjoying Inspector Ricciardi on All 4. It's an Italian crime series set in 1930s Naples.

Bea65 Thu 31-Oct-24 18:40:06

Yes it was gritty and factual so maybe not what most people want to know or see in major cities but found it IMO very realistic- maybe being in denial about the truths in diverse cultures and situations doesn’t fit many stereotypes and beliefs this goes on?

Aveline Thu 31-Oct-24 20:00:45

I enjoyed that series set in Istanbul and also the one in the hills in Australia. Gritty enough without being depressing viewing

Eloethan Thu 31-Oct-24 23:40:08

I just couldn't get on with. That unchanging, rather sulky, expression on DI Ray's face is really off-putting. However good a plot may be, I am interested in character too - and the interplay between characters and it seems to hardly exist in this series.
