Sometimes women did speak up in the past and were not listened to. It’s much easier to call out unacceptable behaviour now, so I think things have improved.

All this is very true and I know nothing about this man but I dislike these cases coming up out of the past. I think people should speak up at the time and not let it drop.

Do you not think years ago women in particular, were too scared to do this.

Back in the late 70’s/early 80’s I worked in London in a male dominated environment, whilst most men were fairly respectful, there was still a sexist attitude running through most of them, remarks were made that were either patronising or sexist, and tactile touches seemed quite acceptable.

I was quite feisty and not scared of losing my job, so I’d call out anything I thought was unacceptable but many many others in their 20’s like me were less confident and just let it go!

Things once acceptable are no more as they are "called out".

Remember Trump's "just locker room banter" (I'm sure there are UK politicians who once thought it OK too!)

Idealistically, in the 1970's, I thought we were calling for an end to it, it's taken a long time for the world to move on, and I think it has, except for the times when Andrew Tate and his like rear their ugly heads.

Has the world moved on , though? Superficially it seems that way. I am 71 and lived, worked, went out and enjoyed myself to the full in 1970s and 1980s London. Travelled on the Tube sometimes late at night. I probably experienced every aspect of a society deemed far more sexist and misogynist than the current one.
I thought men would start to behave better but sometimes I wonder.

Levels of online abuse and levels of every type of violence of women seem either not to have changed or worsened.

The world has moved on in terms of women not accepting this type of behaviour as reasonable and normal AND speaking out about it.

Although I daresay there are many, many women who don't speak out for any number of reasons.

Interesting that Rod Stewart has posted on his social media that he is glad Wallace got karma. He said Wallace bullied and humiliated Rod's wife and made sure it was cut from the programme.

Some of these men who rather unwittingly find themselves becoming TV "celebs" seem to be of the belief that all this type of stuff is "lads banter" and it makes them look worldly and funny to engage in this type of talk in front of women as well as men.

I expect in the days of fruit & veg markets and wholesalers being a male world this was all jolly good fun.

The world has moved on a bit since then.

Another man who has become a celebrity through over exposure and despite very obvious shortcomings.
