MayBee70... but the friendship between Ragnar and Athelstan was worth it, and wasn't that how it brought Christianity to the Vikings, I was never 100% sure that Ragnar converted, to me he is the ultimate viking.

MayBee70 I assume it’s the scenes in Paris you mean? As you say, implausible until you read up on it. I’ve got the box set, watch it every so often and thoroughly enjoy it each time. It’s definitely not as good once Ragnar goes but Floki turns up again near the end.
Also, the late Ray Stevenson (Titus Pullo from Rome, which I would heartily recommend if you’ve never seen it) appears in series six, he is/was always easy to watch.

I didn’t believe that they dismantled their boats to move them upriver till I read up on it! I watch everything I can about Vikings now. Mind you, I can’t forgive them for Lindisfarne.

I’m still traumatised by the end of GOT’s. I invested several years of my life in what I thought was the best thing I’d ever seen. Vikings just filled the gap waiting for a new series of GOT’s to begin. But Vikings, unlike GOT’s remained true to itself.

I should have said, I agree about the end of GoT, just tragic 😁 another reason I like Vikings is that you can actually see what’s happening all the time (although I did shut my eyes at certain bits the first couple of times I watched it) unlike GoT which was just far too dark at times imo.

There is one battle scene ( I can’t remember which series it was in) which was better than anything in Game of Thrones. I remember, when I first started watching it, thinking how implausible elements of it (eg Blood Eagle) were only to Wikipedia it and find out that it actually happened. Lagatha is an amazing character. I’m going to devote January to finishing the series.

I have watched the whole Vikings series many times.
Ragnar and Rolo are definitely worth watching, and of course you must see the most famous shield maiden..Lagatha finish her story.
It one of my favourites.

I watched some time ago and yes not as wildly graphic as GOT but still enjoyed the series

I've watched this series a couple of times, I loved everything about it although I had a cushion ready for the more gruesome parts!!!

Has anyone watched all six series of Vikings? In the beginning I found Vikings to be vastly inferior to Game of Thrones but need to reappraise it after the disastrous last season of GOT’s ( which I’m still traumatised by). I got up to season five of Vikings, even though it was never the same after Ragnar departed. But it felt like unfinished business, so I’ve just bought season 6 part one and two.I’ll watch them during my January hibernation period.
