I've just got back from the cinema, watched the National Theatre production of Prima Facie with Jodie Comer. Wow, what a tour de force, she was totally amazing. How on earth she manages to hold the stage for the best part of two hours is just astounding. The play is beautifully crafted and very thought provoking. I'd love to have seen the actual live play on stage but the filming was excellent and I'll certainly go to more filmed productions in the future. Today is the last time it's being shown but I wondered if anyone else had seen it and if they found it as powerful as I did. Not an easy subject, basically how the law treats women who have been subjected to sexual assault and it certainly packs a punch, superb!

I agree!
She was fantastic (saw it last year) and it was extremely thought provoking too.

She's an excellent actress

I don't know why but I cannot watch anything that this person is in.
She makes my teeth itch!
She's very overated in my humble opinion 😬

Who do you rate, Ilovedogs22? What have you seen Jodie Comer in? I've seen her in several things and she's been amazing perhaps I've missed her flops, even exceptional actors fail to hit the mark if they are working with a poor script.

Oh, I completely agree. My tolerance for live theatre is low but I was absolutely entranced by this production. I went alone one Sunday evening, and there was a very sparse audience but afterwards everyone just sat, almost lost for words, at what we’d all just witnessed. Astounding acting as foxie48 says. I didn’t stop talking about it for weeks!

I’ve seen this twice now and the second time was just as amazing as the first. She leaves the stage only once during the performance. How she manages to deliver her lines with suck conviction and power while changing costume and moving furniture is stunning.
Both times there has been a powerful silence at the end. The admiration both for her performance and the powerful message she delivers.

Yes there was absolute silence when it finished. It was without doubt one of the most astonishing performances that I've ever seen. I went to see Birdsong a couple of weeks ago and tbh although it was quite a clever production the only thing that astonished me was when two of the actors took their clothes off and launched into a very explicit sex act, I'm ashamed to say that I got the giggles! I would certainly see Prima Facie again, just brilliant.
