I never watched this when it was aired - only ever saw bits of it on Gogglebox.

However, I finally gave in to all the hype and have watched the box set on iplayer.

Apart from Pam & Mick, I don't really find any of the other characters either particularly likeable, or particularly interesting. I don't hate it but I can think of a lot more programmes I'd rather watch.

Are there any diehard fans on here? I'm sure I must be in the minority given all the fuss about the Christmas programme.

Never watched it, never will.

MAI"Not this twaddle you don't. Chav television"
My daughter loves Gavin snd Stacey, she is a respected journalist, with a masters degree and a son who she is bringing in on a very good area. As far away from a Chav watching Chav TV as you can get.
The word chav is horrible anyway, says more about you. I am afraid you come across, judgemental, insulting and worst very ignorant. Do you feel better about yourself being insulting about other posters viewing?

Alison Steadman is a really good actor but I agree that Pam as a character is grating.

Could you recommend something she's been in that might change my mind? I've seen her in Abigail's Party (young Pamela?) Pride and Prejudice (old fashioned Pamela?) and G&S as Pamela and they all seem the same to me, loud, not very bright woman who thinks a lot of herself just wearing different clothes. I'd love to see her in something where she is totally different and I could see her as a really good actor.

Never watched any of it....just doesn't appeal to me....

So you'll never know whether or not you'd have liked it.

People never cease to amaze me 😂

I watched, for the first time the last week the 2019 Christmas episode because of all the hype and then the last one this Christmas.

I’m afraid I never found it particularly entertaining. Watch the finale as there wasn’t much else on terrestrial tv. Said to DH just as it stated how I thought it would end, and it did as predicted.

heavenlyheath Fri 27-Dec-24 12:47:26

Ferry23 I have never watched any of it either never had any interest in it

GrammaH Fri 27-Dec-24 12:39:33

Never seen one from beginning to end, never got it, don't understand the hype, sorry!

Polwal Fri 27-Dec-24 12:36:13

I loved the series and the final finale was just what I wanted. So yes I'm a definite fan.

JaneJudge Fri 27-Dec-24 12:35:35

melanie walters is a fantastic actress
some of being human was set on Barry too with Melanie in

I really don;t care if I am a chav. I'm wearing crocs with christamas sock so i'm sure that qualifies anyway

alisonsmith4 Fri 27-Dec-24 12:12:11

Love it - watched it from the start, and I’m from Billericay!

If you're a Diehard fan, surely you're watching that at Christmas?

Stacey’s family is West
Gavin’s is Shipman

Ruth Jones (Nessa) purposely used these infamous murderers surnames when co-writing the scripts.
And Pete (Dawn’s husband) was named Peter Sutcliffe …

I’m a fan of the programme,but I don’t get that?!

MissAdventure Fri 27-Dec-24 11:52:01

I don't know why anyone would think the BBC would be setting out an itinerary based solely on their own personal choice of viewing.

wibblywobblywobblebottom Fri 27-Dec-24 11:49:01

I saw a couple of the earlier episodes, didn't like them so I never watched the series again, that includes the finale. I spoke to a friend and she said you didn't miss anything. So the usual crap TV over Christmas.

And we never did find out what happened on the fishing trip!

Why would a person want to criticise a programme they don’t watch and insult those who enjoy the programme?

A boost to their very low confidence ?

As MissAdventure says, someone with such knowledge of the programme must have watched it.
😂

Can only presume someone with such firm views on a programme must have watched it.

The re visit to Gavin & Stacey certainly outshone the re visit to Outnumbered.
I'm happy to be a bit of a chav of high intelligence.

😂😂😂

The wedding dress!! Bet we wish we'd all had one like that.

Allira Fri 27-Dec-24 10:25:37

Anniebach

One needs a degree of intelligence to enjoy the programme

Not this twaddle you don't. Chav television.

You do, Anniebach
Perhaps mae13 just doesn't get it.

Do you realise just how offensive your posts sound, mae13?

Kate1949 Fri 27-Dec-24 10:24:58

Have you actually watched an episode mae13? It definitely isn't 'chav' television. It is heartwarming, funny and observant.

It was the little things I really enjoyed.
Rudi's children being named Taplow, Chingford, Brighton and ALDI…
...and I really fancy corn on the cob!

One can only hope that Rudi didn't name her kids after the place where they were conceived.

I've heard of the Aldi aisle of shame, but.....
