I never watched this when it was aired - only ever saw bits of it on Gogglebox.

However, I finally gave in to all the hype and have watched the box set on iplayer.

Apart from Pam & Mick, I don't really find any of the other characters either particularly likeable, or particularly interesting. I don't hate it but I can think of a lot more programmes I'd rather watch.

Are there any diehard fans on here? I'm sure I must be in the minority given all the fuss about the Christmas programme.

It was the little things I really enjoyed.
Rudi's children being named Taplow, Chingford, Brighton and ALDI…
...and I really fancy corn on the cob!

Worth every pennysmile

Anniebach Fri 27-Dec-24 09:04:19

Galaxy yes but I would have seen her and heard her play that
mouth organ thingy

Galaxy Fri 27-Dec-24 08:57:35

She would have charged you £70 for a ride along the beach though Anniegrin

Casdon I so agree, and how I wish there had been a Nessa when I visited Barry beach with Sunday School

One needs a degree of intelligence to enjoy the programme

You’re right Annuebach, it’s the people who watch superficially without taking time to understand the subtleties who are the real losers here. First rate comedy writing and observation of human behaviour is rare, but if you are a G&S fan you see it in abundance.

The re visit to Gavin & Stacey certainly outshone the re visit to Outnumbered.
I'm happy to be a bit of a chav of high intelligence.

Not this twaddle you don't. Chav television.

Jaysus, but there's talk of even more "Gavin'n'Stayceeee!"

And I thought British television had dumbed down to rock-bottom......but, apparently, it can fall even further.

A great ending, good old Dave and the bus😆 all the characters looking old with the exception of Smithy and Nessa, very strange I wonder if being overweight keeps you looking younger? Pass the mince pies 😂

Yes, I can vouch for that 😁

Stacey had put on weight too but she has had four children and health problems which can cause weight gain in the meantime.

Last nights episode of Gavin and Stacey was brilliant. Ruth Jones said she hoped it was a Christmas present to everyone. It certainly was a wonderful end to a lovely Christmas Day. Thankyou Ruth and James but sad it’s ended.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Alison Steadman is a really good actor but I agree that Pam as a character is grating.

Allira my family love AS but I always feel she should be in pantomime. She just grates on me. My husband has been a big fan since Abigail's Party and that's going back isn't it. Good job we aren't all the same life would be boring.

The worst thing she did for me was ruin Pride and Prejudice which I'd always loved. Again the family loved her in it. At least she hasn't put me off G&S.

I love Nessa and Neil the baby singing was just perfect.

Loved Nessa’s lines. And her weekend kit just in a plastic carrier bag with her only essentials comprising of HRT, feminine wipes & Tic Tacs!
😁

😁
Well, that's Vanessa Shanessa for you!

It was the name that put me off for years.
It seemed to give no clue as to what the programme was going to be about.

Once I sat and watched it, I enjoyed it.
Then watched all series.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 26-Dec-24 20:24:13

Not often the last episode of something is better than expected.
Tidy.

Desdemona

Not forgetting Mohammed Al Fayed.

That was the best one as we were not aware of his evil behaviour. How he wasn’t outed then I’ll never know 🤷‍♀️
