I never watched this when it was aired - only ever saw bits of it on Gogglebox.

However, I finally gave in to all the hype and have watched the box set on iplayer.

Apart from Pam & Mick, I don't really find any of the other characters either particularly likeable, or particularly interesting. I don't hate it but I can think of a lot more programmes I'd rather watch.

Are there any diehard fans on here? I'm sure I must be in the minority given all the fuss about the Christmas programme.

Anything with the unfunny James Corden is obviously directed towards the very lowest common denominator......

Is there any need to be so offensive? People have been saying they enjoyed it - how does that make them the ‘very lowest common denominator’?

I liked that there was a gap in the timeline. It would stand alone for new viewers, but referenced old jokes and events like the fishing trip for veterans. I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t as funny as I’d expected. I think it was over hyped, which often happens, and can spoil things.

Having said that, it was a good watch at the end of Christmas Day. Not too demanding, but good family viewing. I think the Jones/Corden writing duo is excellent at one liners that almost slip under the radar, and wouldn’t be picked up by children or the easily offended, but are hilarious to those who do notice them.

Loved it. Good ending. I have always thought Nessa was amazing.

I thought the story would pick up immediately from where the last one left off but then continuity might have been difficult as everyone has aged plus it gave scope for other relationships to have shifted and developed.

Other than Ruth Jones as the magnificent Nessa, Larry Lamb was the star of the show for me. His speech about Smithy had me welling up.

I thought it was lovely.

I don't quite get the black humour, I must admit.
Making a joke about finding a dismembered body in Essex was a bit much for me. But I might watch it on my own and see if it improves.

I don't understand why they couldn't make another one.

My daughter and I were sure the coach was going to come off the road and kill them all 😂.

Maybe you have to be Welsh to enjoy it but it’s fabulous. Have you spotted the surnames in it, Sutcliffe, West and Shipman?

I feel real Hiraeth when I watch it…so glad they got together in the end..

Never saw the appeal, although both the girls have been commenting about the last episode, on our family WhatsApp group.
