One of my daughters is very involved with Anime.
She goes to the events where they dress as characters in the cartoons 🤷‍♀️

I really enjoyed all the Strike books and think they have all been well adapted on television but I didn’t like the Ink Black Heart as, like other Gransnetters, I found it hard to follow all the online conversations. However, I look forward to seeing how they manage this on screen. I think the main characters are very well cast as they are just as I imagined them from the book.

Well, to me, ‘Strike’ and ‘Robin’ are perfect as played by Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger.

Of course, I hadn’t read any of the books when I first watched it, so they were embedded in my mind.

Perhaps if I had read the books first, I might think differently, as so often happens.

I found the book hard going and I had the audio version. It is my least favourite and like others I'll be interested to see how they adapt it. At least we can be sure there won't be any change of villain as has happened with some TV adaptations of other writer's books.
I really like both lead actors they have a real chemistry, I don't find Robin twee at all.

The casting for the dramas of the Strike novels is extremely good - it's just a pity that so much has to be left out of the TV version because the books are long. (Not that I am complaining - 'Can't wait for the next one) The Ink Black Heart was a challenge to read - the online chats in particular were initially hard to follow, so it will be interesting to see how they have been adapted for TV.

I think of all the people i know who have read this book it is the least favourite. It will be interesting to see how it is produced for tv adaptation. Strike series is usually a geat watch so fingers crossed.

I think the actors in these adaptation - as with the Kate Atkinson Case Histories series, really make them work. And because I haven’t read any of the Galbraith books I won’t be disappointed (hopefully)
I gave The Listeners a go but couldn’t get past the drippy characters and their unreal and unlikely reactions to what was happening, so looking forward to this new drama.

Thank goodness Hilary Mantel through Mark Rylance gave us Wolf Hall.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I think that 'Strike' is a wonderful & intriguing series. It's certainly not for the faint-hearted though! I'm looking forward to the new series but I do find Stike's drippy helper Robin very, very annoyingly. She's so twee & soppy and her Yorkshire accent is rubbish as are all her attempts at adopting various undercover guises & accents. Replace the the actress who plays Robin with someone who can act and who isn't grating & soppy, then this Tv series would be perfect. 🤔

Terribull, this doesn’t bode well for those of us with small screens and less than perfect eyesight! So frustrating to have to rewind, pause, and move over to the tv every time we need to read a text message or on screen communication!

I felt the same Calendargirl the book was hard work, I think this ‘précis’ will be an improvement, looking forward to it.

This is the book, that for those that read it, we didn't care for it, mainly due to the plot, many 3 way conversations in chat rooms. I'll watch it though the casting of Strike and Robin such an excellent pairing.

Calendargirl Wed 11-Dec-24 06:51:56

The Ink Black Heart was my least favourite book of the series, the way it was written.

Took a lot of following, all the online ‘conversations’.

It will be interesting to see how it is adapted for tv.

Thanks for the Heads up, I will be watching.

I hope it comes up to our expectations so often the new ones don’t

grandMattie Wed 11-Dec-24 04:56:09

Me too.
I thought from the title that you meant train/junior doctors/teachers strike…😂

Jane43 Wed 11-Dec-24 04:28:15

A new series of Strike begins next Monday on BBC 1 at 9pm, I am looking forward to it.
