North Shore on ITVx was good.

Has anyone else watched Squid Game season 2?
I was very disappointed with the ending. It felt like a mini-break!
And apparently season 3 isn't yet scheduled.

Black Doves was good but a bit sugary for me. Especially at the end.
It was "tied up" in a terribly easy way.
It out to have ended very darkly I think.

Another one for quirky humour, This Country, I loved it, but probably fair to say a bit Marmite.

Try The Chelsea Detective.
It's on U&DRAMA.

Each story is wrapped up in two episodes but the private lives of the detectives is an ongoing story told throughout the series.
The main detective lives on an old houseboat in Chelsea Harbour - hence the title.
There are also some nice shots of London.

I loved Borgen watched it years ago though. Amongst foreign series Spiral was excellent. Racking my brains to think of other stand out series, Anatomy of a Scandal, Keeping Faith, Mare of Eastown, always The Unforgotten one of the very best, also Happy Valley. Lately White Lotus. On Apple other half loves Slow Horses, I love Bad Sisters. I've just watched La Palma on Netflix the other week, a Norwegian production, riveting put you off going to the Canaries though. Also enjoyed Black Doves. On Prime a while back Daisy Jones and the Six which was loosely based on Fleetwood Mack. Quirky funny, I'd recommend Colin from Accounts, I like Aussie humour and it's hard not to fall in love with Colin.

I'm bound to have forgotten some there are so many different services these days, still spend a lot of time scratching around to find something worthwhile.

We enjoyed The Sandhamm Murders set in Sweden near Stockholm on archipelago. Sorry I cant recall if it was Netflix or amazon or some other platform.

Following this as I’m looking for something. Prefer British programmes and I like crime and detective dramas.

Schitt's Creek was just perfection...

Just for you, the beautiful David 😍

Quirky (and weird and a bit sinister): an Icelandic series called Katla on Netflix, set in a highly volcanic part of the country. I'll spare you any spoilers. I am only part way through it but am finding it quite compelling.

NotSpaghetti Thu 12-Dec-24 10:13:28

Oh Shitts Creek! 🥰 yes!

petra Thu 12-Dec-24 10:05:03

All on Netflix.
Fat friends
Fool me once
Cold call
Anatomy of scandle
Killing Eve
A confession
Derry Girls.
And the best series ever produced ( drum roll) Schitts Creek. 😂

I will look up the other suggestions.
Thank you.

Yes. Wolf Hall was good - this second series seems a bit less so though. It feels like there is a lot of padding going on abd then a huge leap forward. I don't know if others feel this too?

Unfortunately we don't have Sky. I have looked for White Lotus elsewhere but can't find it.

keepingquiet Thu 12-Dec-24 09:48:06

I love State of Happiness- the third series has just finished and now I'm going back to watch it from the beginning again!

And, of course, there's Wolf Hall...

LaCrepescule Thu 12-Dec-24 09:44:21

If you want quirky, go for the White Lotus on Sky/NOW. One of the best black comedies I’ve ever watched and with the added bonus of Jennifer Coolidge.

Charleygirl5 Thu 12-Dec-24 09:34:24

Strike is returning to BBC1 next Monday- love it.

NotSpaghetti Thu 12-Dec-24 09:06:02

Some time ago there was a thread of great series to watch and I've been plowing my way through them.
It seems to have vanished but maybe it's time to start again?

I like quirky, funny, spy and action.
Not a fan of "true life" or "true crime" dramas unless they are focussing on something old like the Cromwell series.

Here's some I've already seen.
Ideas for other good series would be very welcome.
Thank you all!

Orange is the New Black
Black Doves
The Diplomat
Stranger Things
Peaky Blinders
The Man in the High Castle
Taboo
Hinterland
Keeping Faith
The Seaside Hotel
The Magia only Kill in Summer
Happy Valley
Cleddau
Shetland
The Last Kingdom
The Night Manager
Breaking Bad
