Another brilliant Wallace and Gromit film. I did wonder how close anyone would get to Peter Sallis's unique voice but Ben Whitehead makes a great job of it. All the clever touches that you expect from Nick Park. Definitely worth watching.

We also watched Chicken Run from the same stable. All their products are thoroughbreds.

Being Christmas there have been several re-runs of the old Wallace and Gromit programmes. I watched A Close Shave yesterday where Wendoline, the wool lady and her dog, Preston, are sheep rustling. Again, so many laughs and comic touches. I can watch these over and over and never get bored.

I just watched it with my son . Absolutely brilliant.

As many have said, best thing on TV for the season (by far). And, goodness, a BBC show, which some sad people try to criticise?! [If you want to disband an org due to the antics of a tiny few, then goodbye Commons and Lords, the Met Police, and also to both the Catholic and Anglican churches -- who have far MORE culprits?!!]

It’s a curiosity that the best tv viewing over the festive period has been a programme aimed at children, well on family viewing. I was lucky my daughter, partner boys aged 5 and 8 stayed to watch with me. It added to the fun to share it. We are Lancastrian’s so enjoyed the Lancashire-Yorkshire border humour

ONLY thing worth watching on the television all Christmas.

I thought it couldn’t get any better until I saw the butter pie reference! Oscar worthy entertainment, well done- best thing on the telly box all Christmas

You will love it FriedGreenToms - great film references and northern humour

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 29-Dec-24 19:32:43

I’m settling down to watch it now!

Nick Park and his team are just brilliant. Loved this latest outing. Watched with now adult children, who were as entertained by it as when they were young. The documentary on BBC iPlayer of Nick and history of Aardman I stumbled upon and is definitely worth watching.

I loved the northern jokes -

25Avalon Sun 29-Dec-24 17:19:57

Apparently Peter Kay, who was the police chief, often ad libbed. When he realised it was Feathers and not a nun he yelled out flipping Nora, a good Northern expression. Netflix wanted to know who Nora was and why she was being flipped😂 It was explained this wasn’t rude etc.

So Brit it is pure brilliance.

I thought Wallace’s voice was done by Ai at first till I saw it was another actor. He was excellent and so was the whole programme. So so clever.

GoldenAge Sun 29-Dec-24 15:41:49

I thought it was Peter Sallis until I realised that he would be far too old to be doing that now - and that he did die some years ago and Ben Whitehead took over - a senior memory lapse. But yes, it was magic.

There’s a nice interview with Nick Park on Must Watch on BBC Sounds.

The best thing on over Christmas, made me laugh, I loved the invention that got him out of bed, washed and dressed I could do with one of them for DH.

Did you want to stick your tongue out at them and say Nah na na na nah, or so there!!

madeleine45 Sun 29-Dec-24 14:28:50

i wasnt able to watch it so now need to find out how I can watch it when I have time. Wallace and Gromit are really great. I am so old that I remember the lovely Harts Morph , loved Pingu, , Snowman etc of course and the wonderful Raymond Briggs Father Christmas and Father Christmas on holiday. Love the books, as he was so clever that the child followed the obvious story and of course it was so rude - you saw him sat in the outside toilet!! But we older adults enjoyed the little bits of fun from our time, and perhaps remember a great granny with an outside loo etc. Oh, Blooming Christmas as he would say. an reread those time and time again. Better than the wretched and boring Thomas the Tank Engine, which were not what I enjoyed reading. My son knew every word so you couldnt miss a page either!!

TiggyW Sun 29-Dec-24 14:19:45

Brilliant - you need to watch it more than once to catch all the details and visual humour.

leeds22 Sun 29-Dec-24 14:09:09

Loved it.

wibblywobblywobblebottom Sun 29-Dec-24 12:11:10

The highlight of my year. There are so many sight gags in Wallace and Gromit films you have to watch them again and again to catch them all. Ben Whitehead did a superlative job replacing Peter Sallis. And it was showing at Christmas, usually a time to turn off the TV.

AGAA4 Sun 29-Dec-24 11:41:29

It was so funny. The expressions on Gromit's face make me laugh and the evil Feathers McGraw.

icanhandthemback Sun 29-Dec-24 11:36:01

I haven't seen it yet but you are making me want to.

tictacnana Sun 29-Dec-24 11:22:51

Loved it ! The experience was made extra sweet by my know-it-all daughter and son in law saying that the voice of Wallace WAS Peter Sallis Why wouldn’t it be ? Clearly, they don’t know everything. Well done , Ben Whitehead.
