Anyone else watching this, Channel 5, 9pm, over 4 nights?

I suspect it’s been aired before on another channel, but I haven’t seen it on there.

Fat fetched, the usual channel 5 drama.

The main male lead is Jack Farthing, playing a dubious GP.

He was George Warleggan in Poldark, an unpleasant character and also in this.

I don’t find him very appealing, he has longish, lank hair, cheats on his wife and indulges in porn and rough sex.

Can’t warm to his wife either, but I keep watching!

I watched the first episode, and it was okay, but there were other programmes on the next few nights that appealed to me more. If it had been weekly, I may have watched it.

The book is an easy read and far better as is often the case. I didn’t know it was on but caught it towards the end of the first episode, didn’t think much of it. So I am glad it’s on and over quickly in nightly runs.

I set the first episode to record, so we could binge-watch later. Then I read the RT write-up for episode 2 and it sounded so bad, I deleted episode 1 and thought no more about it. Sick to death of dramas about murderous nutters, to be honest. It's not entertaining in the least. When will the tv channels go back to commissioning some really good, interesting dramas that aren't just bustardised versions of books about nastiness?

I found the last episode really confusing. I need to watch it again but CBA.

What did you find confusing Merlotgran?

Far fetched, (never explained where he had been the past year) and also why she was suddenly so matey with her estranged mum, but I sort of followed it.

I quite enjoyed it, though none of the characters endeared themselves to me.

I did like heir house though grin

No, none of the characters were at all likeable.

You didn’t really care what happened to any of them, TBH.

Smileless2012 Mon 30-Dec-24 11:06:15

I agree Calendargirl that none of the characters were at all likeable. It was far fetched but we had to see how it ended.

I read the book and was not impressed so didn't bother with the TV version.

Helenlouise3 Mon 30-Dec-24 13:16:51

I read the book as well and was unimpressed.

We gave up after ten minutes, it felt like stringing it out and predictable.

I’ve just realised I missed the whole of episode 3. No wonder I was confused. 😂

I finally got around to watching this and thoroughly enjoyed it. As in life all the characters had their faults but in the end I was pleased that Beth was free of 2 violent men even if she had to shove Adam off a cliff !

I thought it was brilliant. Bring on the next series!

Sparklefizz Thu 02-Jan-25 12:01:19

Is there going to be another series love0c?

Is there going to be another series love0c?

Surely not?

What would it be about?

love0c Thu 02-Jan-25 18:00:28

I'm hoping so. The woman police officer in charge, 'Fiona from Corie and married to Steve' ha ha saw a person walking away and she is very suspicious that they have not found the real murderer. What about the second husband/ Body not found yet. There is still so much left unanswered.

There's been a really great series on IYVX called North Shore with Joanne Froggatt..

much better IMO than the serial Killers Wife which was all gloss, poor content and a very weak ending

love0c Thu 02-Jan-25 18:14:14

pascal Thanks for that. Will check it out.

I was thinking of different serial killer and wife.
