Ach, I knew it was coming, but it's still really sad. He was the radio voice of my teenage years.

I was so sorry to read this. Poor Johnnie, he didn't get long after his last programme. I have lovely memories of his lunchtime show , 50 years ago when DS1 was a baby. I listened most days, loved his quiz, Pop the Question.
R.I. P. Johnnie Walker.

You nearly made it to 2025 Johnnie. I'll raise a glass to you at midnight. You were the soundtrack to my youth.

One of my favourite films is The Boat That Rocked based on the pirate radio years. The DJs may be fictional but it brings all the legends to mind.

I have to confess that no matter how many times I see it, I cry at the end when they are rescued and the girls in the small boats yell, ‘We heard you!’

Yes, I do know it’s supposed to be a comedy! 😭😂😂😂

Not knowing who he was, I thought you’d given up whisky.

My son rang me yesterday to tell me. Oh how sad I was even though I knew it was coming. We reminisced about his drive time show where I would make the boys tea then delve into the ironing listening to him and sally traffic. Lots of school shirts were ironed to his show. Now of course everything stopped on a Sunday for sounds of the 70’s. He was a part of our family life now our memories. Funny how someone can touch you through the airwaves. Rest in peace johnnie we loved you.

RIP Johnnie. Such a wonderful person who loved music and imparted that to his listeners. Harris27 well said about “Funny how someone can touch you through the airwaves”…
