Grantchester

I thought Geordie's wife worked in a department store.
I like Leonard best. Very weak storyline in this episode. As previously mentioned it felt like. Midsummer Murders story. I won't rush to see the next episode.

I thought it odd that Geordie and family are suddenly in a smart large house and with Mrs C working for them. Why would the woman suddenly be cleaning for them, and isn't her hubby is meant to be wealthy?

Not great I thought I was watching " Midsommer Murders " .

I love the way Newcastle is either portrayed as inner city slums or up the road picturesque Northumberland. Us geordies can’t win. I like granchester will stick with it. Robson green is always my favourite.

Houses were always freezing in the 1950s, apart from the sitting room and possibly the kitchen if the oven was on.
The loo was outside the back door too, in our house.

Disappointing but I’ll stick with it.

Murders in fairgrounds and circuses have been done so many times they’re boring now.

And would everyone be so eager to go to the circus, even back in the 50’s?

No.

We used to go to the circus in the 1950s and I do remember the Big Top being packed.

So was church on Sundays.

Don't forget - not everyone had TV back in the 1950s.

Agree with some posters. Watchable but rather weak story line (a bit like Mid Summer Murders!) not sure it can go much further. Pleasant enough to watch but not very exciting!

I enjoy it as it's easy to watch and love the era it's set in. The characters are good too.

Is Cathy no longer working?

Surprised they now have a cleaner/housekeeper. Cathy appeared to be doing nothing apart from sitting around and grumbling.

Have never taken to Will’s wife, will be glad when he moves on.

Also think it was a very weak storyline, and yes, trading on past glories.

I prefer Will to Sidney, probably because I couldn't get Tommy Lee Royce out of my mind!

Last night's episode was rather weak (and Cathy's wig was terrible!) but I look forward to meeting the new vicar and giving him a chance. 😀

Surely congregations were much larger in the 1950s?

I watch it, and find it pleasing, no swearing, no violence despite there usually being a murder.

Will watch on catch-up. We had a very pleasant, sunny visit to Grantchester including to the church when we re-visited Cambridge a few years ago. It’s a favourite area, we’ll watch for the reminders and hope the story line holds our interest too.

I didn't find last night's episode so interesting...
I think it has reached its sell-by date and is now just trading on its previous popularity!

Saw him and the previous one on the This Morning programme yesterday, seems like a nice chap. Haven't watched yet but certainly will tonight.
