Anyone watching this? I've watched the first episode and am enjoying it.

Just watched all episodes of Patience ( 4 ) … this is a British version of Astrid (which is French … 3rd Series now on More 4) … Astrid is Autistic but helps the local Police, in particular one female detective. I love the Astrid series, beautifully acted, and including actual Autistic cast members, who have an intrinsic part to play in the series.
This British version attempts to replicate this, and had I not seen Astrid I might have quite enjoyed it. They have done the same including real autistic cast members, etc. I know that with Autism there are many points on the spectrum, but, apart from feeling that ‘Patience’ shows far too much emotion, especially as she is supposed to be just about functioning as shown in flash backs to her youth, the episodes are complete copies of the French series, and I was hoping that if they HAD to replicate the series that they could have done it with new murders to solve . I was very disappointed and am glad the REAL Astrid is back!
Am I the only one to feel this way ?

I enjoyed this series. The girl who played Patience was excellent.

I do like Patience but I want her to get some trousers that cover her shoes and get a better backpack.

I thoroughly enjoyed this serial. Hope there is going to be a second one.

Yes, enjoyed it. Now watching The Island on BBC Alba. It's in gaelic with subtitles.

Have watched it all. Really good.

I thought the girl who played Patience was very good and, although I didn't like it as much as Ludwig, I enjoyed it.

have just watches all episodes and thoroughly enjoyed it, easy to watch, not too complicated. Hopefully there will be a follow up series

This had a great review at the wknd but hadn't noticed it was on last night so thanks for the reminder, will watch it on catch up.

Patience was not the same as Ludwig though.

He was able to mix more socially.

Namsnanny Fri 10-Jan-25 10:55:27

Yes I quite like it, but Ludwig was similar and far better.
I wish they had shown it at a later date so the two didn't influence each other.

Thanks everyone. It is now on the list grin

Dint think I saw Astrid in Paris but am enjoying this too.

BigBertha1 Fri 10-Jan-25 10:14:38

We are really enjoying this and I love the female detective even though she neglecting her parenting duties.

Binged this last night. Not bad at all.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 10-Jan-25 07:38:48

Have watched the first two, really enjoyed it.

Calendargirl Fri 10-Jan-25 07:09:33

I watched the first episode last night, and thought it was good.

Not keen on the female detective, Laura Someone in RL.

She always looks to be snarling in whatever role she plays.

A bit like Tosh in Shetland.

Me too Monica! - love G&S

Oldbat1 Thu 09-Jan-25 23:06:28

We are watching it. Almost identical to Astrid in Paris. It is a good watch.

Curlywhirly Thu 09-Jan-25 22:55:13

I really enjoyed it; different to the usual police dramas. Apparently the actress who plays Patience, is autistic herself.

Litterpicker Thu 09-Jan-25 22:43:45

DH and I loved Astrid in Paris - apparently this is the British version. It will be interesting to compare (but we should finish watching ‘North Shore’ first 😁)

Greenfinch Thu 09-Jan-25 22:21:27

I enjoyed the first episode and have recorded the second as it clashed with Lockerbie which is also proving to be an excellent drama. I thought Patience was a very interesting character and her autism sensitively portrayed . I am looking forward to seeing how the plot develops.

I thought you were talking about the Gilbert and Sullivan opera

Kim19 Thu 09-Jan-25 18:06:38

I watched the first episode and enjoyed the concept but found it frustratingly slow although I recognise the need for that. I will give episode two a go then decide whether to continue.
