Following up on last post

Can GB watchers reassure us it's clear that money raised will go to all abuse victims whoever had abused them and not ring fence it?

My only issue with the fundraising via GB News is its political agenda.

Charity and empathy shouldn’t be linked with politics.

First GB News raise funds for Pensioners missing the WPA, now the victims of grooming gangs recently in the news and commented on several times by Elon.

It makes me feel a tad uncomfortable.

I quite agree Cossy, GB news attract people who are anti immigration as Farage says and this fundraising will fuel that agenda. many dismiss the '& other people' bit and just focus on the people of colour.
Also, when giving to any charity I look up how they spend their money, many pay executives six figure salaries, I don't want to support them so I look for smaller, local charities, I haven't looked up this charity but I raise it as a general point. Captain Tom's charity thought it would benefit their supporters to have a spa in their garden, such malpractice and similar do happen

I really do think you should investigate first before attempting to fuel such rumours about a well-known, registered and worthwhile charity, spabbygirl.

The idea originated from comments made by Nazir Afzal, Musk posted the info but he didnt start it.

Just a little while ago Nazir Afzal apologised for repeating these remarks.
He explained that he was told this ( the instructions from the HO) by several police officers when investigating what measures the police were taking Re the Jay report.
Now I want to know who these police officers are.

Claims that Gordon Brown said what is alleged above were invented by Musk.

The original unfounded claim about a Home Office circular to police seems to stem from an interview Nazir Afzal - the former Crown Prosecution Service chief prosecutor for north-west England - gave to the BBC on 19 October 2018. He now admits that he had not seen any such circular himself, despite apparently stating its existence as fact.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4's PM programme, he told presenter Carolyn Quinn at the time:

"You may not know this, but back in 2008 the Home Office sent a circular to all police forces in the country saying 'as far as these young girls who are being exploited in their towns and cities we believe they have made an informed choice about their sexual behaviour and therefore it's not for you police officers to get involved in".

Although the programme is no longer available to listen to on the BBC's website, a version has been uploaded to YouTube. BBC Verify has also accessed the programme through the BBC's in-house archives to confirm the audio is genuine.

Well it's more than the successive governments, and councils, who allowed this vile happening to contine for years, have even mentioned. Shame and disgrace on them all.

It's been an issue above all of slow action above all by police across the board, (in conjunction with other agencies) and in some cases interference or slowing down the process for what is generally now agreed were racial reasons. (and were called out from 2015 onwards and some key names named at the time tho clearly not all). But thats all in the 2022 report.

It's important to recognise that Maggie Olivers charity is one of several (or many, if you include local initiatives) who are victims/survivors.

I gave references earlier on, on this thread, to confirm the charity is for all survivors whether grooming gang or not, and it is for all survivors. It also, to quote its aims, “while campaigning for a criminal justice system that is fit for purpose in getting victims the justice they deserve.” I dont think anyone would disagree with that as such.

But I think the confusion can come with the difference between Maggie Oliver as in the charity:

and Maggie Oliver the campaigner who is specifically demanding a further inquiry to the 2022 7 year report into Child Sexual Abuse specifically on one group of grooming gangs, and GB news have been very vociferous in backing these demands.

On the Maggie Oliver Charity Just giving Page I saw 2 comments which clearly thought they were backing a call for an inquiry (off the front page now)

There’s already been a long thread on “a further enquiry of not I see no point re-hashing it.

Of course I’m glad one of the victim survivor charities is getting an influx of funds, I've said it all along on this thread,

but dont agree with using the charity as a potential vehicle for a political campaign for an inquiry.

Like so many scandals this one has been simmering for ages, successive governments haven't really dealt effectively with the grooming scandal. Gordon Brown's comments about it "being a life style choice" who at the age of 12 chooses to be drugged, passed around and raped by umpteen older men ffs! Some, were actually murdered. I sometimes wonder if politicians actually analyse their own flippancy. An absolute travesty, committed against young, disadvantaged and vulnerable children it smacks of an "oh just go away and don't rock the boat". Really! at some stage the shit was always going to hit the fan, ripples of discontent, become tidal waves, we saw it when ITV dramatised the post office debacle. I think it's human nature to emote with injustices and to put ourselves in the position of those who've been wrung out and turned over. If politicians can't fight the corner and stand up for anyone who hasn't got a voice, then that void will be filled. What's really alarming is the fact that those who have been on the front line in helping the girls, have been reported as saying it's still going on.

I rarely watch GB News, I did when the Farage de banking debacle was going on, and although I wouldn't vote for Reform, I was really glad when he stuffed that smug, smirking, Rose woman.

As I don't have a television I can't comment on the motives of GB news.
However I have long been concerned about child sexual abuse. Is anyone campaigning/fund raising for the boys? I recommend a series on BBC Sounds "In Dark Corners" - both series, which highlights the extent of grooming in all sections of society

Anything that goes some way towards helping some/all of the victims has to be a good thing in my opinion.
