Saw this at cinema today. It's a difficult film to watch and follow but I did enjoy it especially the singing and beautiful outfits Maria Callas wore.

i am going to look for a cinema that has it on somewhere close to me as I would like to see it. Maria callas singing Casta diva is one of my desert island discs. But dont know if it will work going to see it , dont go to the cinema much and the last time the rudeness of people , talking, not even whispering constantly eating adn rustling, was infuriating and would rather wait for it to come onto the tv or online where I can watch it in peace and quite!!

I went to see it yesterday and really enjoyed it. Initially I wasn't bowled over by Angelina Jolie as her American accent grated on me but I got into it. The sets, costumes and scenes in Paris are wonderful and I'm pleased they included so many well known arias. Well worth two hours of my time.

I think that Maria Callas spent her early life in New York, so if that's true the American accent would be authentic.

I worked for Maria Callas’ solicitor near Piccadilly the late 60 s.
She used to come in a taxi and leave it running for however long it took in the narrow street where the office was. It was before my time.

She was born in the US but into a Greek community and she moved to Athens when she was 13. I don't think she lived in the US after that and she renounced her US citizenship. She spoke Greek, Italian, French, some Spanish and English. I think her accent when speaking English is more English than American with some Greek but that's just my opinion.
