West End theatre tickets

Live screenings are great if what you want to see is doing live streams.

This, exactly!
But West End has always been expensive. We struggled to take our family and it was a massive chunk of our income.
Regional theatres are always cheaper - but decent "family" seats for live performances - especially opera were always eye watering prices.

The Donmar Warehouse on the other hand, when it was "only" the Warehouse (late 70s?) definitely was do-able and we saw things there that were worth the effort of 100 miles.

The Tennant Macbeth that you saw on screen Kitty was £300 a ticket when my daughter went to book.
She needed 5 to take her boys.
She was also having to travel.

I wish we would prop up our arts better... in my opinion there is nothing better than a (quality) live performance.

I have given up going to West End theatres due to the cost of tickets plus travel. We are so fortunate in having a small local theatre. Seats are £14 or £10 for members and every production is brilliant. No famous names, but great talent. Also drinks are a reasonable price and ice cream is £2! A great night out.

It is rather expensive ferry23 but it’ll probably be a sell out, not my cup of tea.
Plenty of people on GN seemed to spend that ticket price on items of clothing, again, not my choice, but each to their own
FYI Maw I can see our local Premier League team play for about £60 should I choose to, my days of trips to Twickers, very enjoyable, are past.

ferry23 I agree- but provincial theatres put on west end productions too at much lower costs.

Most major cities have a few theatres where you can see first class drama.

I'm just making a point that it doesn't just have to be about London.

I agree - but could anybody here enlighten me on the cost of Premiership football tickets?
Six Nations?
Taylor Swift?
Coldplay?
Glastonbury?
There's clearly some money out there - if not here.

I have been able to enjoy a lot at my local cinema, lots of ballets - some great plays from the NT and Old Vic and I am going to see Six The Musical live for just £6.75 so I have no complaints there. But just now and then it would be nice to see something "in the flesh" so to speak.

I go to live screenings at my local publicly owned cinema.

I go on the bus for nothing, don't need any accommodation or expensive meals.

I went to see David Tennant in the Domar's production of Macbeth recently. Cost me £12:50 and a fiver for two cups of tea.

I have also seen the ballet from ROH and am going again in a couple of weeks. Best thing ever!

You get a great view and a comfy seat everytime so let the rich people pay what they like!

Wow. I'd no idea it was so expensive. I'll just stick to the telly thanks.
