Eastenders - the "funeral"

First of all, a cheery hello to all my EE fellow watchers and of course to all those who take the time and energy to contribute by telling us that you don't watch soaps, they're all rubbish and a waste of time etc. etc.

So with that out of the way - I've just seen a trailer for Martin's funeral. I do wonder how the likes of Billy, Alfie and all the others who look mostly a bit scruffy and constantly have no money are all able to conjure up quality looking, black, wool overcoats.

I'm sure that even if they had one lurking in the back of a cupboard they would have had to have sold it by now for some ready cash grin

To be fair with the amount of incidents in Eastenders, funeral wear us probably more important than heating.
I dip in and out of Eastenders but I wish they hadnt killed Martin.

Hello from a fellow Enders fan!
Not seen any trailers for the funeral yet so not had long to think about this! Maybe the less well off characters could borrow a suitable coat from friends or family? Mo may be able to acquire a job lot of black woollen overcoats, Fat Elvis to the rescue!

They have children who must live in cupboards and houses that extend at will to accommodate the many and varied occupants and always have money for the pub despite being skint most of the time.

Hiya from one EE fan to another!
I think that a long black overcoat would be an essential bit of kit for any self-respecting Eastend geezer grin

Wotcher folks! 👋 You're making me laugh.

If anyone is interested, there's an Eastenders costume exhibition at the Home Museum in Hackney. Not sure if they've got the iconic black overcoat, but Shirley's beige trenchcoat features.

Hi

I love EE and don’t care who knows it haha

Can be a tad depressing but has some great storylines, characters and actors!

I spent they all invested in smart black coats given the amount the amount of funerals and court cases there seem to be haha

Yes, I suppose given the amount of funerals, any black attire is probably a good investment. grin

I don't think any of them wore black to Lola's funeral?

I guess they get the money from the same magic money tree that Pauline used to use for spontaneous trips to America and that others shook for sudden holidays abroad.

I heard the Pub had been blown up so watched for the first time since I tuned in specifically to see Dirty Den get dead for the second time! I stopped watching for years but then started again from the beginning. I am now up to when crazy Stella jumped to her death.

I was quite shocked that they had killed off Martin. Even more shocked to see that Cindy had risen from the dead. Cathy's strange re-appearance I already knew about. Perhaps Martin could come back as a Zombie for the 50th Anniversary? After all, Angie managed to show her face in the 40th.

I must live a very sheltered and boring life. I've never known anyone who has been shot, stabbed or murdered. Don't know anyone who has fallen, or been pushed, from a high building or a cliff, or whose car has catapulted over a cliff and the body never seen again (yet).

I've never killed anyone, or hidden a dead body. I've not been kidnapped and locked and chained in a storage facility for months.

I've never been unemployed at the same time as being able to afford to fly across the world at a moment's notice.

I've never been able to come up with thousands and thousands of pounds to buy a business where all the legal paperwork has been completed in 24 hours. I've never had a solicitor come and visit me at my house or met me in the local caff or pub.

I've definitely never given birth in a pub (I would have remembered that). Nor have I rushed to a hospital to see a neighbour and found 14 of my other neighbours already there.

None of my family or friends have ever come back from the dead.

Ha ha - I have though known a slightly out of shape, rather than completely bent, copper . I'm also not stupid enough to make a secretive phone call 2 yards away from the last person I'd want to hear it.

OK - what have I missed?

I am a diehard Emmerdale fan and watched Coronation Street for years, but I got fed up with it a couple of years ago and switched to EastEnders and I haven’t regretted my decision…

Martin dead? When EE started Martin was just a baby and my children and their friends had a game with them playing EE characters and my younger daughter was baby Martin, I am devastated.
