The Bay.

I didn’t know it’s back, I’ll look. It’s been disappointing as you say Calendargirl. The acting is a bit Acorn Antiques and the endless ‘personal’ issues seem like fillers. I’ve watched because I lived in a Morecambe suburb in my teens, saw the beautiful bay every day and retain a soft spot for the area

The best part was the scenery.
Unremitting gloom, and the lead detective was clearly unfit to return to work judging by her performance.
I wondered why it was necessary for the students in the house-share to have their phones confiscated; nobody else seemed to.

I was shouting, ‘Look in the boot’ at the telly until a different camera angle showed it was a hatchback so probably not necessary.

I can’t remember all the personal issues from the last series and CBA to research them so I’ll just pick it up as I go along (hopefully)

Two weeks off and offers of more for the death of a parent seems overly generous??

I started to watch the first series in great anticipation because I live in the area and am quite fond of Morecambe. It was disappointing, not only for the poor acting and poor script, but they haven't made enough of the lovely scenery and unusual town. Pity.
Haven't bothered with it this time around.

I too thought that the compassionate leave had been pretty generous, but didn’t like to comment as I thought I would be labelled mean!

Also not sudden, as he had been ill for some time.

The mother didn’t seem that bothered either.

I am looking out over Cardigan bay. Limped green today and mildly warm. Sea behaving its self for a change. In the summer, in the sunshine, dolphins rise right along the prom (only once). Chatting to a friend, I was facing the setting sun, and got sun burnt eye balls! Never had that before, and rare in Wales. Cardigan bay is massive. Lord Cardigan lead “the charge of the light brigade” over the Crimea.
Not only is there nothing new under the sun, but life is stranger than fiction.

She's a Family Liaison Officer I think The received wisdom is you shouldn't be dealing with grief of others professionally when you have a recent personal grief That can relate the processing of your own grief and impede your ability to do your job

I was going to watch this, but the Agatha Christie was on the other side. Gave that up after half an hour, don't think I'll bother with the Bay either. Oh well You Tube or U for me plenty of good films and catch ups.

It was OK but nowhere near as good as Unforgotten, and actually quite depressing.

I agree with Exdancer that it didn't show Morecambe in its best light. We lived for a while in the north west and often went to Morecambe. The town was gloomy (haven't been there for over 30 years now so no doubt it has improved a lot) but the view across Morecambe Bay is lovely.

When The Midlands Hotel was refurbed and the Womad music festival held in Morecambe, I had hopes of Hebden Bridge on sea. Sadly, like most English holiday resorts, Morecambe didn’t rebuild and Womad moved south.
It’s a town that needs to find a purpose, like Whitby has. There, there history is made the most of. The have Goths weekends, invite Star Wars eccentrics. It has a real buzz.
Morecambe is the gateway to the lakes and could make more of the bay views and proximity of tourists with a pound or two to spend

So, it hasn't improved much then? What a shame.

I thought the same about the car. Surely it would have been cordoned off by the police before they all went tromping off across the foreshore. Surely someone would also have looked in the boot and for other clues/evidence in the rest of the car. The whole thing was all rather boring.

The best thing about the Agatha Christie was the scenery although the shots of Burgh Island must have been from a different angle than usual or the one we're used to.
When they said that there were regular drownings trying to get across there, we both said "Just wait until the tide's out or go on the tractor!".

I'm a bit confused with The Bay as we missed the first episode.

I used to love Womad when it was at Reading I went every year for about 11 years then it moved over to West country to far for me without a car

When did his new love interest appear? Did she used to be the mum in Derry Girls? I thought his ex wife wanted to get back with him at one stage.

I’m with yiu Calendargirl, after watching The Bay last night - so gloomy is spot on.
The acting is poor, reminds me of Acorn Antiques. As with so many police procedurals, far too many (gloomy) stories about the key characters lives running parallel. Clutters it up somehow
Oh for Line of Duty or Life on Mars, real entertainment

I can’t remember how he got a new partner either. And did prefer the original cast too. But I’ll stick with it for now.

Considering all the complete rubbish on the television (for ages!) I've been watching re-runs of Vera on ITVX
Still the best thing on the TV at the mo.
Every new drama lately has been very poor & disappointing. I might dig out some old favourite Dvds to cheer myself up 😶

The Bay (which is a bit slow! & boring!)
I still think Vera is one of the best programmes on the box.
I also love Shakespeare & Hathaway, I adore the plots & the humour & the Stratford setting. It's on the BBC Iplayer.
Doc Martin was very good too.
So many TV channels yet so much tripe, it sums up modern living really!??
