I enjoyed the first episode but I found the lighting was almost non existent- all dark.

I was looking forward to this but found it utterly tedious and switched off after half an hour

A new version which I have no intention of watching.

HurdyGurdy Tue 04-Mar-25 16:38:48

I've not read the book or seen any of the other versions of it, but we watched it as it was being filmed at a National Trust property we visited last year, so wanted to try and pick parts of it out.

I thought it was quite slow, and I don't think I'll bother watching the other two episodes, although as my husband enjoyed it, I will no doubt watch with one eye and listen with one ear whilst doing something else when it's on.

Nowhere near as good as previous version and I’ve watched all 3 episodes.

Hear, hear Witzend, I couldn't agree with you more.
Joan Hickson was brilliant as Miss Marple & the scripts weren't messed about with then either. 🤔

moJack26 thanks for explaining the darkness on my screen due to me not having a UHD tv, that explains a lot.

Good for you wibblywobblywobblebottom,
It will probably be all sexed-up & full of newly-fledged drama school, posho twits! Or even possibly worst, full of nepo- brats who can't act for ruddy toffee. 🤔

I am sure Agatha would be amazed, specially the sex on the stairs!! Just read the book, Joan Hickson it ain’t

Why would you have uncomfortable sex on the stairs when there were all those bedrooms empty?

For me the good news was DH didn’t like it either, so we don’t have to watch anymore. I like to give new versions a try, but I didn’t see the point of the upgrades in this one.

Oldbat1 Thu 06-Mar-25 19:05:17

Totally underwhelmed by it.

Ilovedogs22 Thu 06-Mar-25 19:26:11

I wonder what upgrades your talking about Mollygo?
Nudge, nudge, wink,wink! 😙

Given up.

I started to watch it and after 10 mins . Only cast member I recognised was Angelica Huston. I liked the Miss Marple version with Eileen Atkins ,Tom Baker ,Julian Sands and the rest.

I liked the old Pale Horse version with Julie Mackenzie, but also liked the version on BBC with Rufus Swell , BBC ,'And then there were none ' was very good with Charles Dance and other well known actors . BBC version of Murder is easy also very good as was ITV . But didn't like BBC version of ABC murders but liked the David Suchet version .

'Why didn't they ask Evans ' was very good on ITV and think it was on 5 was good as well.

Best Miss Marple Joan Hickson and Julie McKenzie. David Suchet was Poriot ( not spelt correctly) not Kenneth B.

Do like David Walliams and the woman out of call the midwife as Tommy and Tuppence Beresford on BBC. Think Francesca Annis was in the old ITV version .

I found that really weird and quite disgusting. What sort of mind thought that up I wonder.

It was spoilt by trying to bring a story set in the mid 1900s up to date. I watched it all but was not impressed. I've seen much better versions that portrayed the time in which the story was set.

😂😂😂
A frisson of excitement at the possibility of getting caught?

I do not speak from experience btw!

The acting from the two wives was terrible.
Facial expressions quite off putting but also funny in a
“ can you believe it way”.

Silverbrooks Sat 08-Mar-25 11:43:26

I don’t mind a bit of variation from the story but this was too far removed.

I think the best that can be said about it was that it was a good advert for lipstick.

I was waiting for them to whizz down the banisters. grin

In the book, Audrey is fragile, pale and delicate, the complete opposite of Kay. In this drama, she's glamorous and scheming, and obviously up to something!

Mollygo Sun 09-Mar-25 12:59:24

I read a post from someone this morning that
BBC has dropped all episodes of ‘scandalous’ new thriller on iPlayer.
I don’t know how true it is, and I’m not really bothered, but I would like to know why the rumour started.

Silverbrooks Sun 09-Mar-25 15:41:22

I think you may be misunderstanding the use of the word drop, thinking it means the BBC are no longer showing it.

Drop in TV scheduling parlance means when the show is first available to watch e.g. New episodes of xxx will drop weekly on Fridays at 8:00pm.

So if BBC drop all three episodes it means all are available to stream one after the other rather than being released week by week.

Astitchintime Sun 09-Mar-25 15:44:49

We watched all episodes on iPlayer and have to say that one particular scene might have a few GNetters clutching their pearls shock
