We were planning to be £10 poms, along with our 5 children, right at the beginning of the 70s. We filled in all the application forms, including references, but my in-laws created such a fuss, "we`ll never see you again, etc", that in the end we never sent the forms off. Hubby was a brass bandsman, he`d been promised a place in a band in Tasmania, help in finding a job (he was a skilled tradesman) plusa house to rent until we managed to buy our own. I`ve often wondered how things would have turned out if we`d gone.
