Yes, that’s always amused me too, Wheniwasyourage. And if they’re off to the airport they have time to pack everything they need for their trip as well, even though they don’t know where they’re going or what they’ll be doing. I think I’d probably just lie awake fretting all night waiting for the call, then fall asleep on the minibus tour later in the day. That’d impress Lord Sugar no end.

I remember reading (though I can't remember where confused) that the candidates feel comfortable with Lord Sugar and that the boardroom goes on for a great deal longer than we see and is more friendly and constructive. I think that comes through if you watch their body language. They enjoy the terrible jokes and they don't look as stressed as they would if they were really under the sort of pressure that we are led to believe.

What I find totally unbelievable is that they can all do the extensive morning beautifying that they seem to need in just 20 minutes before the cars arrive!

Tim grins widely at every stupid joke Lord Sugar makes.

Granmarderby10 Mon 10-Mar-25 09:00:29

That did sound fun Maybe😄

I still enjoy it. It’s light entertainment, not meant to be taken seriously. I’m not sure I’d bother watching if Lord Sugar was a caring, sharing pussycat and all the contestants were down to earth and competent. Though a local woman won a few years back and that’s exactly how she comes across…

I used to enjoy it more when I was working and we’d have a sweepstake on the winner. I always seemed to get the biggest bumbling fool on the show and spend a lot of time shouting at the screen.

I used to watch it for a bit of a laugh but haven’t bothered with this series. It’s just same old, same old.

Haven't watched it for a couple of years now. It just became a parody of itself and is more comedy than anything else now and it's just so fake.

Other shows I've ditched are Dragon's Den, Masterchef (and all its varieties) and all the soaps.

I listen to podcasts more now, better produced and you can listen whilst doing jobs!

I used to like Margaret and Nick Hewer. Both educated people, humorous and no nonsense. The latter has a house in France and his weekly flight used to arrive into Stansted just after mine, so I waited with him at passport control a couple of times. Such a gentleman.
Karen and Tim are nothing special, although they themselves obviously think they are.
I confess I watch it, and Dragons' Den, and Eastenders, (my old part of the world).

BlueBelle Mon 10-Mar-25 06:49:30

I like Dragons Den personally The Apprentice I like less and less and will probably stop watching before long
Karen Brady is fast disappearing up her own arse she has had a lot of work done on her face and teeth probably why she looks so different
The tasks should be easy enough but most of them cannot work as a team it’s all me, me, me and secondly they are probably very clever in their entrepreneurial role but they all seem to have very little common sense or knowledge of ordinary every day things

PamQS Mon 10-Mar-25 03:16:38

I find the tasks a bit ridiculous, as well. They chuck the teams into skill-based projects, which most of them have no idea about. The mistake of not having enough wine to top up drinks happened recently in a task, as well, but nobody saw that coming )except me, I was shouting at the TV as loudly as I could!

Granmarderby10 Mon 10-Mar-25 00:23:04

Let me get this straight: your “main man” SerAlan (or is it Lord now? lost track) is an insufferable big head and Karen Brady is following in his footsteps,
.. which is kind of the deal with being an apprentice in the first place but wait one! …so both of them are.. ahem! what-they-are….. but even worse is the fact that Karen has (1) got older .. a heinous crime and (2) has lost all the meat from her face! So isn’t as lovely any more? 😂

By the way I hate this show(circus) anyway and wish it would go far far away from tv screens.

It is number 1 on my “can’t stand it” chart which includes Dragons Den at number 2 ..closely tied with Master Chef (all it’s variations)….Eastenders At number 3 and Mrs Browns Boys ( often referred to by me as Mrs Browns @#£&*ng Boys) at 4 I just do not get how it keeps on keeping on. Just sayin’👹

crazyH Sun 09-Mar-25 23:20:05

Karen has lost all the ‘meat’ from her face …. It happens as you get older, I suppose. I used to have a lovely full face - now it’s all dark circles and jowls 😂

nanna8 Sun 09-Mar-25 23:07:52

I used to love watching that for the same reasons as you. I also used to watch Trump ( he should have stayed on the program, he was good at that) They must seek out the most dreadful self absorbed people for contestants but they probably ask them to ham it up. No one could be like that in real life. Could they ?

BlueBelle Sun 09-Mar-25 23:02:08

I watch because it s so awful I agree about Sugar and Brady like the guy whose name has disappeared out my head
The contestants are always awful, they always are and each year they get worse, but somehow I have to watch just to see how terrible they really are

Crossstitchfan Sun 09-Mar-25 22:57:52

Alan Sugar may be clever etc., etc., etc., but he sure knows it! He is so full of himself now that I wonder how he gets his head through the doors in his mansion. Tonight, he said he was unable to be there in person because ‘I’ve been called away on urgent business’. Urgent, of course! It’s Alan Sugar after all and everything he does is urgent, important, unmissable and suchlike. I am sick of him and the high opinion he has of himself. He really gets on my nerves. Karren is getting to be just like him. She is her own greatest admirer.
I have had to stop watching because between them they make me cringe. They may have money but I certainly don’t find them likeable at all.
