It was a fantastic series and had some seriously bad people, like the bent cop, the violent pimp and the teenage prostitute who becomes a murderer. Also it showed prostitution as it really was and not the Pretty Woman version.
I often wonder if such a drama could be made now as prostitution certainly hasn't gone away since the nineties and the internet has seen a big expansion in escorting.

I remember this and loved it. Remember the man with the rubber gloves?

Oh yes ha

It was one of the best series of the nineties and bad a fantastic cast. You felt sorry for the man with the rubber gloves as he was only indulging in a fetish, and loved Cathy Tyson's charavter, where other people in the drama were far more dangerous.

Excellent show , his phrase walk for me was used by the girls at work every time we saw the marigolds under the sink . We all started to laugh in recognition of the program. Some great women actors in it . Strong social message that is still relevant today.

brilliant series, so much talent, have watched several times. True what they say " they don't make them like that anymore"

I loved it first time round. I must have seen it since, as I remember it well. Has it dated? Often I find that TV I remember fondly from the 90s has done so. Partly it's the screen size - when they stretch it everyone looks improbably proportioned - and often it's the language and all the smoking. I am watching Brookside on STV, which I loved at the time, but it's shocking at times to see how what seemed such a relevant series has aged. Bobby Grant's attitude to Sheila is awful, but I don't remember thinking so at the time. It is good to see the fashions and ways of life that have changed so much though. Paul Collins going out for his paper, and people rushing downstairs to answer the telephone spring to mind.

Was it a drama set in the late 70, about lady’s of the night? If so, yes. I loved all the characters, especially Cathy Tyson & Barbara Dickson.

Just started the above box set on ITV. Did anyone watch first time round?
