This is starting tonight, 9.30pm. A new Aussie comedy starring Ben Miller and Sally Philips. Looks promising, maybe the new Colin From Accounts?

I loved Colin from Accounts so I will give it a look.

I’ve watched two episodes.

It isn’t as funny as Colin from Accounts and it’s very clichéd. The cancelled writer, the menopausal wife eyeing up younger men, the vulgar Aussie grandad (a watered down version of Gordon’s dad in Colin) - but I like Sally Phillips so shall stay with it for a little longer. The actor Michael Theo playing neurodivergent Austin is very likeable.

I'm on the fence after the first episode and agree with silverbrooks opinion.
I'll watch some more to see if it improves.

I was mildly enjoying it, and then it vastly improved for me the minute Austin appeared.

I watched to the end. It gets sillier and sillier with so many odd characters, clichés and leaden metaphors e.g. Ingrid’s yen to write a story about a cuckoo and the very odd ghostwriter she meets — that I ended up wondering if the point of this was to show that everyone is quirky. By the end of the series, Austin seems to be the most normal and rational of the lot.

The ending signals a second series is on the way. I read that filming on that began in December 2024.

I watched the first episode this morning and I enjoyed it. But I'll watch Ben Miller in anything.
