yes new series of this show with amazing people playing the Piano. 9pm tonight

I’m feeling mixed about this latest series. I agree with others who think that there’s rather a lot of chat during the performances. I liked Lang Lang, too, and think it’s a shame he’s not doing this series. I suppose he must be busy with other things.

Surprised at the amount of singing tonight when it's supposed to be about playing the Piano. Plus of course the trumpet player!!!🤔🤔

Tonight's Piano. Wow, Zak from Chapeltown,
Leeds. I was not expecting that! Brilliant!,

Zak was utterly brilliant, very talented.

Just caught up with episode 2. I’m really not keen on Jon Batiste either. Come back Lang lang.

Smileless2012 Mon 21-Apr-25 17:00:54

Totally agree Gin, Jon Batiste is spoiling this series for me and the overall standard so far isn't as good.

Patsy70 Mon 21-Apr-25 15:56:34

I love this programme, but really miss Lang Lang.

Taichinan Mon 21-Apr-25 15:04:48

I get the impression Jon Batiste is driving Mica up the wall, never mind anyone else. But I love the programme and am so amazed by the talent out there! It transcends every barrier imaginable.

Gin Sun 20-Apr-25 23:08:22

Very disappointed. The standard is much lower than previous series I feel. Do not like Jon, much prefer Lang Lang a musician not an exhibitionist
.

Millie22 Sun 20-Apr-25 21:36:29

This used to be such a gentle programme with some lovely piano playing.

Can't watch much more.

merlotgran Thu 17-Apr-25 13:45:16

I haven’t a clue who Jean Batiste is and I’m quite happy to leave it that way.

dogsmother Thu 17-Apr-25 08:47:59

I love it, what a chance for show casing pianists. As for Jean Batiste and Mica at least I know of them as a mere pleb Lang Lang was off my radar.

Esmay Thu 17-Apr-25 08:39:42

Sorry Jon Batiste - not Jean Baptiste - had to Google him !

Esmay Thu 17-Apr-25 08:37:56

It's totally brilliant ,but Jean Baptiste is on one hell of an ego trip .
It's about the musicians-not you Jean Baptiste !

RosieandherMaw Thu 17-Apr-25 00:00:23

Well, cynically I thought we didn’t miss much by the “talking over” some of the performers.

merlotgran Wed 16-Apr-25 22:34:10

I think the "talking over "is no bad thing in some cases

That’s why I wrote, talking over the acts and not music. 😂😩

RosieandherMaw Wed 16-Apr-25 21:27:23

I'm watching it on catch up this evening and I think the "talking over "is no bad thing in some cases! Great back stories but isn't it meant to be about piano playing?

joannapiano Tue 15-Apr-25 17:07:48

I was a big fan of Lang Lang, such a wonderful pianist. Am not watching this series I’m afraid.

merlotgran Tue 15-Apr-25 16:29:55

I don’t know if I’ll stick with this. Far too much talking over the acts and Jean Batiste has a ridiculously overblown ego.

Is Pianism even a word? 😂

granfromafar Sun 13-Apr-25 22:44:43

Watching it now on Ch 4+1. I find it incredibly inspirational and moving, such amazing talent and back stories to some of the pianists.

Dogmum2 Sun 13-Apr-25 22:44:24

Another fan here. Love it.

Smileless2012 Sun 13-Apr-25 22:40:36

Me too LadyGracie, they didn't do this with the first series and it annoyed me with the second so disappointed it's happening again.

LadyGracie Sun 13-Apr-25 22:38:35

I wish we could hear more of the music being played and less talk.

ixion Sun 13-Apr-25 22:11:10

Excellent outcome!

Smintie Sun 13-Apr-25 21:53:29

I’m watching too, it’s a joy.
