Yesterday I watched on bbc catch up a film set in Ireland full of delightful characters. It was called 'That they may face the rising sun'
If you enjoy something a bit different give this a go.😊

I watched it a few weeks ago and have recommended it to lots of people.

It is a gently understated film with great photography and a message about what it means to live in a community.

Wonderful.

Thank you travelsfar. What a lovely gentle, but absorbing film.

"Mr Burton" is a new film well, worth a visit to the cinema.

Just watched ‘Emily’ about Emily Bronte. Lovely scenery but a bit far fetched .

Thank you very much, travelsafar - I've just started it and I'm enchanted already.

If you are looking for something a bit different, I can recommend Cold Brook, a film on Amazon Prime video. Its a lovely film about friendship and compassion.
I've watched it a couple of times.

Many years ago I saw and loved an Irish film on tv called Reflections starring Gabrielle Byrne and Harriet Walter, both at the start of their illustrious careers. I actually found it on utube recently and rewatched it ( and still loved it). It was very similar to That they may face the Rising Sun. My favourite Irish film of all time, though is Into the West, again with Gabrielle Byrne. More recently I liked The Quiet Girl on Ch4.

I like Irish films, there’s a really good comedy film called ‘Waking Ned’ if anyone’s interested, Netflix or Amazon I think.
Also a comedy series set in Ireland called ‘Bodkin.’

Nothing beats Father Ted though!
