Anyone watching? Three nights this week. Enjoyed last night's. The doctor in main role was Prince Albert a few years ago!

I watched it and enjoyed it.
My thoughts are, like one of the characters said, "being afraid of your boss" is not an excuse. He should have said no to her. Patient safety is more important than management meetings even if managers don't think so.
There seems to be something about how far away from the hospital he was sleeping as well.
Good acting and an engaging story line. (Although a bit distracting to see J P from Death in Paradise with a pencil moustache!)
I look forward to the next episode.

Great program, it highlights the problems in the NHS very well. All the superior staff seem to be throwing the Dr on the ground under the bus, simply to save their own careers. I really hope this ends well for him.

Loved it. Found it quite tense at times hoping the jnr Dr came out fine. Won't say and spoil the ending for those still to get to end.

DH and I binged!! Hooked (despite my fury at negative and misleading birth scenes) so much we went back for season 1

Oh for goodness sake it's entertainment, get a life.

I (retired nurse) was also fairly upset at the unrealistic actions and decisions being made in the first episode. And the obstetrician not taking responsibility for her patient!! But as mabon1 said, I realised it's entertainment and I was soon hooked by all the backstabbing and manipulations going on! Looking forward to the last 2 episodes.

Thank you, Lovetotravel. Don’t think it’s on here in Ireland yet, loved the first series though.

Retired mental health professional here. I thought it portrayed the cuts in mental health during the Cameron/ Osbourne era quite well. Services still struggle years later as many of the most experienced staff were gotten rid of or downgraded because of cost. Expecting clinicians to be able to be in two places at once and do two urgent assessments at once was the thing that resonated with me. Lack of time and huge lack of support. The cuts made staff compete against each other so working as a team was discouraged and staff were told told to speak about diagnosis and treatment etc as something they did without a team approach so everything cascaded down to the face to face workers. It was a good watch though some parts made you have to work hard at keeping your disbelief suspended! Yes it was entertaining but based in read life.

I binge watched the first series which was great. Hoping series 2 will be just as good when I get round to watching it.

Brilliant!

The first episodes were just about believable, but now it is completely over the top.
I shall watch to see the conclusion, but really, all the improbable connections, the lying consultants and managers and the fact that the Doctor is frequently interviewed without any form of representation.

ginnycomelately Mon 12-May-25 08:13:42

I felt there was much truth in the series,
The midwifery and obstetrics part resonated with me . The Trust ( mostly non clinicians,) dictating what the clinicians could and could not do ,
Ie keeping the number of c sections down because of cost , .

Really liked that ending, enjoyed this series.

Very satisfying!

Well, it all ended happily apart from the nurse who lost her life, several people ruined their careers, some one lost his girlfriend, who lost her job, and the entire board and chairman were facing prison sentences.
Oh and a few mothers lost their babies.
Malpractice was certainly a good title.
