for those who don't subscribe to Amazon, 800 Words is on STV Player, which is a free app. I haven't seen it as I'm still watching APTCH, but will check it out when it finishes.

I've not seen 800 words so will check it out.
In general I love Aussie drama. Not a period piece but I always recommend Wanted. It's a bit of a caper, very funny and sad with some fab female characters.

I was bereft when I got to the end of the last series of 'Offspring'.

I am enjoying this on Amazon Prime

Thank you for the tip; we started watching this years ago in Australia but only saw a few episodes. Now I know it's on Prime, I'll start from episode 1 again.

DD recommended a series called Janet King, also starring Marta Dusseldorp, but I'm not sure if that's available in the UK.

Forgot to say 800 Words is Aussie/NZ which makes it even better!

Oldbat1 Mon 19-May-25 19:21:11

I also loved 800 words. Weve watched it twice. Our 16yr old GD loved it too.

It was sooooo good. Can also recommend 800 Words, another Aussie series if you get withdrawal symptoms at the end of Season 6.

I loved it from the very first one several years ago. I used to record it and watch in evenings. Far better than the rubbish that was on.

I recommended it to loads of friends and they all loved it too.

I loved this series and it never seemed to get much recognition.
Went downhill a bit in the last season

Yes - I thoroughly enjoyed this series.
It portrays the 1950s well and has some nice characters which you can really come to care for.

Yes I’ve watched it and really enjoyed it. I especially like the strong female characters in this drama.

Yes, the main characters are predominantly female, which might be why I'm enjoying it so much.

I didn't realise it was such a long-running thing when I started watching it - I thought it would be a three-parter, so it was a pleasant surprise when it carried on. I'm on series 4 now, I think.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I am enjoying this on Amazon Prime. It is set in 1950s Australia and is a six-series drama/soap about a rich family living in post-war society.

It is perfect for Sunday afternoons or when I want an easy watch that doesn’t get in the way of my knitting. It is quite dark in places, but on the whole is about relationships and family dynamics.
