I came across the new series (3) last night on U. I hadn't seen it advertised anywhere and know some others on here enjoyed the first two.

I lived in Pimlico for 18 years so know the area very well. We always salute Churchill Gardens ( where we lived) when we see aerial shots of Chelsea and Albert bridges. It’s a very gentle detective series but great for our reminiscing!

I really enjoy The Chelsea Detective. It's good to see Adrian Scarborough playing the lead. I seem to have seen him so many times as either the villain or the irritating neighbour.

I've recently rewatched the Miranda shows and really enjoyed seeing The Chelsea Detective in another, very funny, role.

Which channel is it on? I haven’t come across U. I grew up in Chelsea and lived almost opposite the Chelsea Police station. Used to see films being made as a regular occurrence and familiar actors around all the time. They filmed the Yellow Balloon in our flats. Andrew Ray ran up and down with a balloon at the bottom of stairs in the flats we lived in. The director asked two children to play their ball game up against the wall under the archway a few yards from there.

On Freeview I think it's channel 20, called U&Drama, I use the app on my TV and that has all three of the U channels in one place.
There are 3 series on there.

It was advertised in one of the TV magazines a few weeks ago. We’ve watched all episodes of this latest series………great viewing.

Loved all 3 series . Any other good series is Murder at the top of the World it's on ITVX Clive Owen is in it . Stick with it and twist at the end.
Recipes for Murder think that's what it's called also on U drama 2 series set in south Africa and flash backs to Scotland in few bits.
Darby and Joan set in Australia with Greta Sacchi and Bryan Brown , begins with S but can't think how to spelt it Volpe with Emilia Fox sent in Italy .
All very good .

Whiff I have watched and enjoyed all those except Murder at the top of the World. For some reason I cannot get ITVX.

Surely only a matter of time before this excellent series is on a main channel? I came across it by accident and have been delighted by an fairly light weight and enjoyable programme with interesting character development over the three series.

Found this programme by accident. I love it. Will he get back with Astrid?

Meant to add that we watch it on U, which used to be UKTV. The adverts drive us mad, though - too long, too frequent and too repetitive.

FannyD Tue 27-May-25 14:00:11

Don’t know where my first message went!

I love this, too. It’s refreshingly different from other detective series in that the team all get on and no-one seems to be having an affair with one of the others. There’s no swearing either. I love the incidental characters - particularly Adrian Scarborough’s ex-wife, his aunt and the forensic pathologist. Chelsea is shown beautifully, and the fact that the lovely Adrian Scarborough’s character lives on a houseboat and rides a bike just makes it very different.

Just watched first episode of the first series, enjoying it.

Discovered the series by accident when getting to grips with my new TiVo box. Watched one episode with a forensic biologist and her allotment and will try to find it again. It contrasts well with some of the predictably formulaic ‘cosy crime’ series! Far more satisfying to watch.
