It turned me off too, which is a shame given the brilliance of the tech as the OP says.
It Disneyfies the subject and the hushed sentimental hogwash made up to fit a scenario just insults our intelligence.

I agree Franbern I found it a bit silly just go with the science not made up scenarios a bit like a cartoon. I’ve just dipped in and out but lost interest.

Whereas I am in total awe of the brilliant technology that brings to life dinosaurs and totally admire those people who so carefully uncover their bones - I am somewhat disappointed in this new series.
Not quite sure why!!!
I think because it tries - almost desperately - to make one dinosaur in each episode like a favourite family pet. Gives them names like George and Rosie.
Some wonderful scientific work going on - bringing up bones for so many millions of years ago. The attempt to humanise them rather ruins it for.
