We don't realise they've aged like we have. Just remember them way back when they were young.

'Time after time' is my favourite of hers. It's never occurred to me to wonder about her age but she's a year younger than I am.

I was 72 last month so she’s the same age as me .

When I watched her Glastonbury set last year (just from the comfort of my sofa, sadly), I remember thinking how well she looked for someone just a few years younger than me. Now I discover she’s two years older. I need to up my game. Would a bit of netting and glitter help, I wonder?

At 72, rushing about active and doing.

At 74, stopped to smell the roses and realise that I can just BE occasionally. Given my notice at work and started on the pile of reading that I had stacked up for my old age; given up my guide unit and joined the Trefoil Guild, BUT

Still volunteer at school; still do my dancing; joined an exercise class; still wield a chainsaw in the garden. But leaned that it is OK now to leave things until tomorrow, nap in the afternoon if I feel like it, and enjoy being slower.

It is having my niece tell me she is 50, and my nephew turning 60 that gave me the shocks

One minute you're 20 in the '70s' next you're 70 in the 20s.

Today's shock is the gorgeous tennis player Roger Taylor is 83. On BBC Breakfast currently.

The Searchers are due to retire after 68 years - after playing Glastonbury!

The Searchers formed three years before The Beatles, played at the Cavern Club.

Speaking to The Guardian, guitarist John McNally, 83, and bassist and singer Frank Allen, 81, said they had decided to retire partly because of their age, but also because they were sick of driving up and down motorways in heavy traffic.

Can't say I blame you, John, I dislike motorway driving now too, there are too many idiots on the road.

The Searchers will appear on the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury on 27 June.

Also can't believe that Debbie Harry will be 80 on 1st July. I think all of us of a certain age wonder where the last 50 years went!
