I used to love Jim Taggart.
Watching the series again from the start.
It’s so early 80’s grin ( which of course it would be as that’s when it was made )

Yes, enjoyed it.

Yes, loved it. I thought McManus was excellent in the title role. I saw him at Edinburgh Festival in The Bachae in the 70s. Blythe Duff was a good female detective.

I remember - did he have big bags under his eyes? Now I look like him!

Yes, we loved it too. Does anyone else remember a series, Sam I think it was called where he was the little boy?

Calendargirl Tue 01-Jul-25 21:09:07

Wasn’t Mark McManus’ brother the lead singer in ‘The Sweet’?

Half brother, only found that out recently, you can see a resemblance.

I loved it. My mum couldn't watch it as she couldn't understand him.

Does anyone remember Sam back in the early seventies? Mark McManus played the title character and I remember enjoying it but can’t remember much about it.

Vaguely remember it?
I always remember being shocked he was half brothers ( or something like that? ) with the lead singer from Sweet.

There was only one Taggart, McManus was the one, wasn't the same without him

I liked the original story, Killer, where it transpired the killer wasn't someone from the schemes, like the first suspect in the story, but a respectable businessman with a Mercedes and a house in the west end. Also how this started with a corpse being found in Kelvingrove Park and classical music playing was really dramatic.
