Gregg Wallace’s latest claim.

So Gregg Wallace reckons he can’t wear underpants because he is autistic!

Isn’t this a bit like Prince Andrew claiming he can’t sweat?

I read Gregg Wallace's comments in the Guardian and far from finding them funny, I started wondering how such a deeply disturbed, self-centred and delusional man could have held down a career spanning over twenty years.

To say that his response is irrational is an understatement. In his world he has done nothing wrong but the resultant stress he is under is far from being laughable.

I don't want to sound sanctimonious but he is clearly in his own personal hell at the moment and this to my mind is no cause for amusement.

The people who have had to work with him over the years and put up with his extremely upsetting behaviour are in my opinion the ones who were in need of safeguarding by the BBC who allowed this obnoxious man to not only get away with treating BBC employees in this way but also facilitated his rise to stardom.

I am the same. As well as the above, I suddenly developed a ‘feeling’ about Huw Edwards, the disgraced newsreader, even though I had really liked him previously. This came out of the blue, long before he was rumbled. In my career, I was trained to spot anomalies in human behaviour, so maybe this was why. Doesn’t explain why it came on suddenly though.

I wonder how many people have the same experience as me? So often I see someone on tv for the first time and take an instant dislike to them. It later turns out that my feelings were justified. This happened with Jimmy Saville, Stuart Hall among others, including Greg Wallace.

Is it true he's been rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack from all of the stress he's been put through? ( poor dab hmm)

Thanks for Marina Hyde

Brilliant! Thank you, Labradora

Thank you, Labradora that's very funny.

Labradora Sat 12-Jul-25 15:18:30

I've tried to do some sort of a link to Marina Hydes's column about Greg Wallace in the Guardian yesterday that was absolutely hysterically funny.

For some reason, Gregg Wallace must think he’s attractive?🤔 The bald head is an instant turn off! He’s not quite George Clooney.…🙄

ViceVersa Sat 12-Jul-25 12:24:52

It's the fact that he's made one excuse after another for his behaviour. Anything to get out of accepting responsibility for his own actions.

Parsley3 Sat 12-Jul-25 12:23:40

Greg Wallace needs to understand that while some of his behaviour may well be because of autism, the dirty old man behaviour will actually be down to his personality. He came across as a bully to me in Masterchef and Mr P was constantly surprised that one of the contestants didn't lamp him one when he was roaring at them to hurry up.

Siptree Sat 12-Jul-25 12:13:44

I have never watched Masterchef, just seeing clips and trailers was enough to make me feel uncomfortable with Wallace. He's just one of those people that made my skin crawl for no reason I could put my finger on.

Galaxy Sat 12-Jul-25 11:58:55

I absolutely agree Aveline, lots of people will have known about this behaviour and either ignored or enabled it. There will be another 'Gregg Wallace'.

I haven't heard of this before nor read the whole thread but .... but .... but why am I supposed to be interested in whether some tedious middle-aged man wears underpants or not?

Its not a particularly long thread be well worth you having a read then you could keep up If you re not interested you can move on to something more stimulating for you No one’s really expecting you to be interested if you’re not why comment just flip past the thread

Aveline Sat 12-Jul-25 11:06:01

He's just a dirty old man who's been flattered by public attention and celebrity. Lots of covering up of his grubby behaviour by agents and TV companies cashing in on his apparent popularity.

You might if he displayed what was underneath to you, then tried to claim it was because he's autistic.

Try reading the thread and you might get an inkling as to why we’re commenting.
None of us is interested Gregg’s pants!

icanhandthemback Sat 12-Jul-25 10:34:08

Aveline

icanhandthemback I think you must have missed my point. Accurate diagnosis of the neuro diverse conditions is required rather than self diagnosis which can be inaccurate.
Sometimes people are just people and there's no need to pathologise them.

I absolutely agree with that.

Absolutely Bluebelle 😂🤣😂

Galaxy Sat 12-Jul-25 09:32:50

Yes it is a terrible message to send to women that there is an excuse for this behaviour.

Maremia Sat 12-Jul-25 09:22:40

Doesn't matter what is your 'diagnosis', abusing other people is not your 'therapy'.

lafergar Sat 12-Jul-25 09:14:12

It wasn't you Aveline, I'm very interested in it.

Aveline Sat 12-Jul-25 09:13:10

Sorry. I didn't mean to put you or anyone in their place. It's a huge subject with many nuances. Best to talk about in real life as it's hard to convey it all in this format smile

lafergar Sat 12-Jul-25 09:04:17

I often thing these type of " characters" must have friends in the right places.

Devoid of any talent or professional training they rise to the top.

Aveline, it is an interesting topic but I will say no more as I have been put in my place.
