Personally I hope that Greg Wallace never works again.
🦞 The Lockdown Gang still chatting 🦞
So Gregg Wallace reckons he can’t wear underpants because he is autistic!
Isn’t this a bit like Prince Andrew claiming he can’t sweat?
Personally I hope that Greg Wallace never works again.

I don't know, I don't want to offend but some of this stuff is surely just likes and dislikes.
I hate hats and gloves, I don't walk on cracks on pavements, my spelling is creative. But I improvise and find ways round things.
Lafergar
That’s interesting. Were you made to wear hats and gloves, or obliged to walk on cracks in the pavement?
Does that mean you overcame your dislike or did you carry on regardless with what made you happy?
DGS has ASC. Improvising and find ways round things are part of life that everyone has to do.
Others, like DGS just have conditions that make doing that more difficult, but he’s worked hard at managing issues, as I put in my post.
Gingster asked, ^Is this a ‘thing’ with autism or just a spoilt child getting his own way?
My answer was to her. Not knowing the child I wouldn’t know whether he has ASC or not, or what strategies the parents are using to encourage him to make choices like wearing pants.
Being a child in the 1950's choice wasn't an option. Nobody forced me to walk on cracks, I certainly got into trouble re hats and gloves.
I saw him once in ‘la gavroche’ restaurant in London (ex Michel Roux’s place).
He smirked at me and said isn’t it wonderful here, I replied saying that I didn’t appreciate the waiters were standing too close and whipped away the plates as soon as I placed down the knife!
He replied ‘ well that’s posh restaurants for you, if you’re not used to them you shouldn’t come!
He was just obnoxious and rude sorry Autism ADHD? All of a sudden? Didn’t affect him before all this!
Don’t believe one word of it! !
Do you remember he blamed ‘women of a certain age and class’ last time!
Waste of space
I've always found him really creepy, that awful manic grin of his. It's like Jack Nicholson in The Shining, Ugh.

Autism is not an excuse for his behaviour. It's an insult to people with autism to try to use an alleged diagnosis to excuse the unpleasant things he has done.
I'm sick to death of this autism/ neurodiverse thing.
He made an absolute fortune.
Many people genuinely struggling get zero.
Yes, and I expect neurodiverse people are sick to death of those who poo poo it. I know I am as one of them.
GW seems like a throughly unpleasant person and I can't see how neurodiversity has any connection or is any way an excuse for his behaviour.
Whilst I agree that GW seems like a thoroughly unpleasant person, some ND people don't have impulse control which is certainly part of it. That is not to say I believe GW has that problem but it is possible.
I find it really disappointing with the dismissive attitude towards those who are Neurodiverse. Be dismissive about the excuse given by the person but being so vile about the Neurodiverse in general is just awful. Would you be the same about those who broke bones or suffered from multiple sclerosis or other medical problems?
Please, I have not been dismissive. I suspect strongly I am ND and family members also.
Is ND a medical problem or is it the way we are wired?
It's condition not an illness. Unfortunately, many people seem to have self diagnosed based on reading the internet. Wallace using this diagnosis is repellent. Autism is not an excuse.
To others I'd say there isn't a necessity to be diagnosed with anything. There aren't necessarily boxes that everyone might fit into. There is always more to a person than their condition, if any. All the other genetic components and life experience contribute to a person's presentation.
Forgive me if this little nugget has been posted before but I think it’s worth sharing.
Some years ago GW opened a restaurant in Putney, London. It really wasn’t good.
It was known locally as Wallace and Vomit.

No, he’s just an ar*ehole!!
I think so too Crossstitchfan but the fact remains that some people with Neuro-Diversity have poor impulse control. However, they do usually need a support worker to keep them or the public safe.

It is the way you are wired although many people with ND have co-morbidities which are medical (or vice versa). Your exact words are, "I'm sick to death of this autism/ neurodiverse thing." That is dismissive of those who definitely suffer with this.

Wow, just wow. What gives you the right to determine whether people need a diagnosis or not. For some of us it was a relief to find there was a reason that things were as they were rather than just being completely hopeless. It doesn't mean I use it as an excuse for bad behaviour.
There hasn't been an explosion of ASD or ADHD, there has been a better understanding of it. Personally I think that bad behaviour is a product of an entitled society overall and a lot of successful men in particular seem to have that attitude to women.
icanhandthemback. You perhaps didn't know that I was an NHS diagnostician and know of what I speak. Particularly among young people there seems to be a need to find some particular category to fit themselves into.
Personally I think people are as they always were bearing in mind IQ as well as the other genetic components to a person and their life experience. Autism and other neuro diverse conditions are very specific and are best not self diagnosed although I know it's tempting for unhappy people to look for apparent explanations.
This is a huge subject and this forum is it the ideal place to discuss it all. We need a conference!
I have over thirty years experience of working with children with autism and dh has a diagnosis.
I would again say I dont care what condition Gregg Wallace has, and certainly the women who he assaulted should not be expected to care.
Well I am glad you weren't my diagnostician, Aveline if that's your attitude. I know a lot of people who have been struggling all of their lives and the diagnosis makes a lot of sense to them. The relief that there is a reason and that you are not just thick, dysregulated emotionally, mad or any other thing they were extremely worried about. Furthermore, they are able to understand where they fit into the world and how to navigate it more easily. From where I am standing you seem to have an ableist attitude which is really disheartening.
Goodness, I think Aveline is very experienced and knows very well of what she speaks.
Anecdotes about personal experiences are not researched evidence.
Adeline, i agree, self diagnoses from the internet to I am autistic / adhd etc is best aviudedl. I can help to read around the subject and that might result in seeking a professional assessment
Underneath neuro diverse individuals lie their personalities. Greg Wrallsce imo has a problematic personality
Hence his desire to project blame and avoid responsibility

I don't doubt her experience at all. I am quite sure there is good evidence as to why it helps to have a diagnosis.
No mention of the Victims of his condition? He got into the Media because of his outspoken personality. Someone wasn't paying attention. Again.......

I knew I’d seen that creepy sickly grin somewhere before!
Tell me, how does such an unappealing and rather ugly man get the women he says he’s had? He certainly has no sex appeal and he has the personality of a dead slug. He makes my flesh creep!
