I wonder how many people have the same experience as me? So often I see someone on tv for the first time and take an instant dislike to them. It later turns out that my feelings were justified. This happened with Jimmy Saville, Stuart Hall among others, including Greg Wallace.

I am the same. As well as the above, I suddenly developed a ‘feeling’ about Huw Edwards, the disgraced newsreader, even though I had really liked him previously. This came out of the blue, long before he was rumbled. In my career, I was trained to spot anomalies in human behaviour, so maybe this was why. Doesn’t explain why it came on suddenly though.

I read Gregg Wallace's comments in the Guardian and far from finding them funny, I started wondering how such a deeply disturbed, self-centred and delusional man could have held down a career spanning over twenty years.

To say that his response is irrational is an understatement. In his world he has done nothing wrong but the resultant stress he is under is far from being laughable.

I don't want to sound sanctimonious but he is clearly in his own personal hell at the moment and this to my mind is no cause for amusement.

The people who have had to work with him over the years and put up with his extremely upsetting behaviour are in my opinion the ones who were in need of safeguarding by the BBC who allowed this obnoxious man to not only get away with treating BBC employees in this way but also facilitated his rise to stardom.

I think the article in the garden was tongue in cheek.

I remember a newspaper article written by a GP saying that a few years ago his surgery was filled with people thinking they were bi-polar. It was around the time several celebrities had made it known that they were. The GP said that today nobody comes to him suspecting bi-polar and his surgery is now filled with people thinking they are autistic.

Didn't he need counselling to cope with the rigours of Strictly?

The latest social media driven craze is POTS - Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. Apparently lots of girls and young women now have this.
I remember when my GP Dad complained about patients thinking they had botulism after the papers blew up the corned beef scare.

My friend who is a teacher, said that when they capped the child benefit for two children, that’s when all these diagnoses for attention deficit & autism escalated.

I often thing these type of " characters" must have friends in the right places.

Devoid of any talent or professional training they rise to the top.

Aveline, it is an interesting topic but I will say no more as I have been put in my place.

Greg Wallace was in the right place at the right time.
He was hired about the time when the bbc decided to appeal more to the man in the street
Then hey ho along comes the av a larf greengrocer.
He supplied to all the top restaurants in London where he probably came into contact with people who had contacts.
It’s the way the world goes round.

But there are loads of av a laf blokes about? Some of them probably very nice.
How do these people get these jobs?

Wallace is a disgusting, arrogant creep. The Autism Society have debunked his latest nonsensical claims, and anyone with autistic relatives or friends should be outraged.

Oh, and how odd that none of his 35 or so ex-wives (?!) have come forward to plead for understanding re the poor fellow, as they all knew about his 'autism'?

In the article I read, GW appeared to be saying that he had recently been diagnosed. This revelation explained everything for him, and was presumably made much of in an attempt to move on from his earlier comments, suggesting that middle aged women had no sense of humour and had decided to gang up on him. What will next week bring?
