I am watching this, and wondering where the last 40 years have gone.

I remember that day in its entirety as if it were yesterday.

I was pregnant, I remember where we went for dinner (having put a video in to record whilst we were out).

I can remember feeling so overwhelmed and emotional, probably pregnancy hormones.

Well, I'm loving Bryan Ferry and Paul Young.

I’m watching it with mixed emotions as well.

I was lucky enough to see Freddie live once, I have never seen a performance like his.

Loving watching Live Aid again. Even enjoying the mullets . So many great performances for a good cause.
Re Bono, my SIL who is a massive U2 fan, says the band nearly split up after Bono’s antics that night.

For all I'm not a fan if Bono I wish I'd seen U2 live.DH and I saw Queen the year after live and and Freddie had such charisma. And that voice.

I’m watching it too - with mixed memories ….

Most singers are pants when singing live on stage, but Freddie sounds really good.

Hat? What.

Oreo Sat 12-Jul-25 21:33:37

Just watching Freddie Mercury, hat a great voice he had.

Oreo

Who is the seemingly drunk and drugged guy going into the crowd and kissing all the girl fans? Then jumping back onstage.
Thin, with black leather trousers and badly dyed long hair?

Bono from U2

Oreo Sat 12-Jul-25 21:25:21

Will have to google him.

Ziggy62 Sat 12-Jul-25 21:24:13

Loving it 😍

Oreo Sat 12-Jul-25 21:23:08

I don’t know, was it? Quite ugly?

Washerwoman Sat 12-Jul-25 21:17:06

Watching it with DS he was 9 months old the first time! It was like yesterday.

They’re all so young. Howard Jones is 70 now!

Mt61 Sat 12-Jul-25 20:26:46

Ha, remember watching an interview with Status Quo, they said because they were off their heads on drugs, they thought, instead of ‘singing feed the world’, they thought they were singing ‘feed the Welsh’.
Yes, It was amazing day, one that I don’t think will ever be repeated.

merlotgran Sat 12-Jul-25 20:21:33

It’s great. I’d forgotten just how good they all were.

JaneJudge Sat 12-Jul-25 20:02:57

Having a nostalgic Musical weekend.
Yesterday, I went with some chums to a concert at a local Theatre called "Disco Inferno" all disco music they were good.
This afternoon saw Beverly Knight in a new play called "Marie and Rossetta" about the lady who inspired Rock and Roll artists and now Live Aid.
Just a shame I was unable to see Stevie Wonder in Hyde Park, bad timing for me, but so far.. Brilliant weekend reliving my 20's.

I’ve set the tele to record I’ll enjoy it another day. I remember it at the time I was in my thirties

Yes watching again as we did 40years ago. Tickets were £5 with a £20 donation. It was a beautiful day then too. I can remember the kids playing in the paddling pool.

I'm also watching and loving it. Found out recently that my brother in law was there.
