2. I don’t automatically ask where people are from or assess what their religion is when talking to them.

I don't ask unless people tell me.
Why would I? They're just people.
Several of them much-loved family members.

I think the people caught up in the riots fall into different categories, there will be a sprinkling of far rights, either local or bussed in, locals with fairly far rights views, locals who just don’t want a hotel packed with asylum seekers on their doorstep, the bored seeing something exciting going on and a few just joining a crowd as it’s what happens when humans see a group of other humans.

I think I live in a different universe sometimes. There must be 15 different nationalities working and attending the gym I go to. I regularly chat to Muslim women since they are there changing like everyone else talk kids and food and stuff. I went to a chair shop after wards and bumped into a young refugee from Syria who was once a swim guard at the gym pool, rather lonely - maybe 16 or 17? and learning English We greeted each other warmly 3 years on and he is now taking children like my granddaughter to a special school and back, and of ourselves these children see him as a friend and he was happy and settled and I think has a girlfriend now.

Yesterday in the park I had a long natter with a Somali mum and her two girls about general things then (she has been to uni) we talked about the theology of Islamic beliefs of God compared with other religions. she has a headscarf, her two girls, whizzing on bikes, western dress. In Sainsburys had a laugh with a woman shopping for her family to go to Morocco...

You bitter people are missing out on so much!

Yes we have far too many people coming and this cant go on

but sometimes I honestly wonder if some here see others as animals not human beings. With most, you just have to get talking to people with an open mind and heart.

People get whipped up by the likes of GP news and miss whats under their nose if they just pointed it in another direction.

To return to the original post, I would like to support those posters who point out that the survey said " most viewers" which is not the same as " the best" .
In my nearby city there is a Greggs and an Ivy. I don't have data to support this, but would suggest that Greggs has more customers each day than the Ivy: this does not mean that it is better.
I have no skin in this game, as my news source of choice is Channel 4, but I'm a stickler for accuracy, particularly in relation to data( you can take a woman out of the classroom, but...)

I have never watched GB News, so, on the back of this thread, I switched it on this morning. I have watched it for an hour. During that time, there was a short piece about asbestos in military homes (5 mins) and a similar length report on Storm Floris. The rest of the hour was given over to talk about immigration! Talk about pushing an agenda! It is very worrying to me that a party with a one issue agenda is getting so popular. One of the newsreaders made the comment "It is widely accepted now that those taking part in the Southport riots last year were not far right, but just rightly concerned citizens wanting to protect their children"! Fair to say I was shocked.

Widely accepted by whom?

Did you know that 41% of people arrested after participating in last summer’s riots had been previously reported to the police for domestic abuse? They don't sound like "just concerned citizens" to me.

Are you under estimating the feeling in this country from just ordinary people about our country being flooded with men we know nothing about who claim they are in fear of their lives, who deliberately destroy their documents and who are of no use to our country.

I just saw a very eloquent Mum on TV who is one of the hundreds of “pink ladies” who will be holding peaceful protests outside migrant hotels until the Govt listen to them!

She said there will be no doubt be some troublemakers like Antifa or young lads from the far right but they are absolutely nothing to do with them. They are just terrified Mums.

Did she mention the troublemakers from the right-wing groups?

Immigration is the hot topic right now and rightly will be discussed at length.Radio 4 was discussing it the other day at breakfast time.
You simply cannot dismiss a day long news and entertainment outlet just by watching for one hour!
The presenters, guests and debates cover all sorts of subjects and vary widely.
