What I wonder is why people who can’t stand something spend so much time on it - that’s all.

Isn’t it just like you seeking out threads to post comments about left wingers on though, for example? People are drawn to comment on things that annoy them, I don’t think that will ever change.

Just as it’s always the same people who post comments like yours on these threads Kandinsky. Do you also wonder why you do that? Perhaps we should start a new Groundhog Day category.

Kandinsky Mon 04-Aug-25 07:18:07

It’s always the same bunch of left wingers hanging around any thread about GB news / Nigel Farage etc.
usually long after the main conversation has ended.
I wonder why?

Wyllow3 Mon 04-Aug-25 01:30:29

You called?

😄😄 didn’t we have a thread like this before.

GBNews is clearly very, very, very bigly.

Just what I was about to say!

grin

Spot on Galaxy. Not instead of, but on both points 👏

Galaxy Sun 03-Aug-25 22:49:53

No it is about class. It is the management class versus the working class on pretty much every issue. The management class espouse views that aren't actually held by large sections of the population. It is a class war in my view and it isn't going to be fun.

I wish the moaning was just taking the p*ss.

The DM is openly getting its readers to hate most immigrants, plants nasty stories to stop the pleasures and gains of living multiculturally, features those who are not white committing vile acts against women which, although true, are not matched by the comparatively huge scale women and girls suffer at the hands of white men unless they are especially heinous.

what do we expect? Look at the owner of the DM.

The chairman of DMGT and controlling shareholder is Jonathan Harmsworth.

He's a billionaire, this "man of the people"

Google summary

"Jonathan Harmsworth, the 4th Viscount Rothermere and current owner of the Daily Mail, generally aligns with right-wing, conservative political views, with a focus on British nationalism and support for certain aspects of European conservatism.

The Daily Mail, under his ownership, has consistently championed causes like Brexit, supported figures like Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage.

Not much of a joke, is it, posters?

Oreo Sun 03-Aug-25 21:11:13

And then moaning about it of course🤭

I’m not surprised - it’s the only news channel that lets the majority have their say.

How do you know that they represent the majority? Which majority? Adults? Pensioners? Right minded people? Southerners? Northerners? Daily Mail readers? People who shop at Marks and Spencer? People who share your views? Guardian Readers? NHS workers? Union leaders? LGBTQ community? Reliable information and statistics please.

Omg Magenta you cannot be serious 😂😂😂

I think that a lot of people seem to be of an opinion that most people in the country agree with them, which is probably due to the headlines in the right wing controlled press…

kissngate Sun 03-Aug-25 19:35:33

Well done GB news thoroughly deserve to be leading the ratings. Much prefer listening to Michael Portillo and Anne Diamond than some of the presenters on the BBC.

I have never watched it. I watch very little news. I prefer to read it online and in newspapers or listen to it on the radio.

I was the same M0nica but they have really interesting presenters on there and great discussions and they investigate things that other programmes wouldn’t. GB News is also on the radio too you know! 😉

When you get a reaction like this, you know a nerve has been touched. Five minutes ago there were predictions that it would collapse as soon as it started.

The only nerve it touched in me was that the OP had entirely misread and misunderstood what the link said.

Inaccuracy, particularly when presented in such a 'tah-dah' manner, regardless of the subject, always touches a nerve in me

The fact is GB News has been rated top British news Channel in July. 👏👏👏

So sherry sipping non sports loving lefty luvvies in the leafy shires or the Cotswolds set or the Islington set don’t like GB News.Doh! What a surprise!😄
Most people are working class and if men, like football.Young men now don’t watch news programmes much.Beer is much more commonly drunk than wine.
Do I trust opinion polls and surveys much overall tho? No not really.
Especially as most of the people I chat to who watch it and like it are women.Probably cos women enjoy talking more than men. DP would rather watch footie any day, or any sport on tv rather than a lively debate.

Doodledog Sun 03-Aug-25 18:06:05

In summary, our findings are that those most likely to be GB news viewers are men; those aged 55 and older; and living in London or the North-East or West Midlands of England.

Those who voted in Leave in 2016 are also more likely to be GB News viewers, as are those who intend to vote Reform at the next election, although more liberal and left-leaning voters also watch the channel.

GB News viewers tend to also be working class, are more likely to be beer drinkers than non-beer drinks, and are more likely to declare themselves to be football fans than the general population of Britain.

The top of this summary was cut off my previous post for some reason.

From Casdon's link. It's not patronising - it's descriptive. It doesn't claim that people in other groups don't watch - just that the majority of the audience falls into the groups they describe.

Having said that, their summary says that there is a high concentration of viewers in the NE, but their graphic shows that they are mainly in the west and middle of England. the NE has 8% to the NW's 16%.

Thank you Casdon: I enjoyed reading these statistics including the percentage of GB watchers who enjoy watching football, drink lager and have paid off their mortgages. Very informative.grin

Wow!! And that’s not at all patronising magenta 😂😂😂😂
