This is for real. The title of the photo is "does mens make up have a part to play"

sorry. I digress

Does their studio lighting have an orange tinge?

😄😄 didn’t we have a thread like this before.

GBNews is clearly very, very, very bigly.

🤣

Absolutely right.
Sadly, I no longer trust the BBC.

Same here too.
As Galaxy says when this channel started there were predictions from everywhere saying snootily that it would only last a few weeks or months.
Funnily enough I once read that there were the same dismissive things said about Coronation St 😄look how long that’s been going on, maybe 60 years.
Both programmes are in touch with the people.

'Fox News' is apparently the preferred news source in USA, even though its inaccuracies (put mildly) are well documented. It now classes itself as 'entertainment', and because it is on commercial channels rather than on the national broadcast channel (which requires a license, oversight etc.) it cannot be disciplined for broadcasting falsehoods. I hope we are not going down the same path in UK.

I won’t repeat what my sister, who’s lived in the US since the 70s, has to say about Fox News!

GB news is loud and inflammatory at times. The current unrest with regard to immigration has probably been partly stirred up by items broadcast on GB news. 0ne gets a distinct feeling that government may be limiting what is discussed and shown on established news channels.
If the general public felt that government was listening to there concerns there would then not be a channel like GB news.
I'm not ashamed to say I tune in at least once a day to hear things from a different angle - bawdy as it sometimes is.
If the boats are ever stopped it will be partly down to this news channel.

Ditto the above 👏

I don’t think I know anyone who is passionate about watching GB news but I think there is a belief that you will get a different angle on the news. I remember DGS5 asking me if they were having a real argument !

Never watched GB News.

Galaxy Sun 03-Aug-25 07:19:03

When you get a reaction like this, you know a nerve has been touched. Five minutes ago there were predictions that it would collapse as soon as it started.

The Sun used to be the biggest selling ‘news’paper until it stopped publicising its circulation figures. What that meant in terms of quality or credibility is a matter of opinion.

“GB News has claimed a major milestone for its TV ratings as it beat BBC News Channel and Sky News for average viewership in several key slots in July.

However Press Gazette understands the total weekly reach for the BBC News Channel through July remained more than twice the size of GB News while Sky News was almost double.

This means GB News appears to be engaging fewer people in total each month but the high average viewership means their audience stay watching for longer.

The BARB figures for July have not yet been consolidated and are therefore broadcast only, excluding on-demand platforms – meaning the BBC’s figures are likely to increase once iPlayer data is added in.

Sky News was the lead broadcaster for Youtube views, Press Gazette understands. Youtube is now the second-biggest service for in-home video viewing behind the BBC.”
What it actually said…

Very misleading as it relates to a few occasions. BBC
overall beats hem hands down.

M0nica Sat 02-Aug-25 22:37:49

Ratings have nothing to do with the quality of the broadcaster and their output. They simply measure how manylisteners/viewers they have.

I assume you read the article and noted the paragraphs that said

In other words far more people watch the BBC and Sky. Those watching GB news are presumably those who just switch the tv on first thing in the morning and never turn it off whether they are viewing or not. So fewer viewers but longer viewings
