I watched the second episode last night on catch up because Saturday night TV is so dire.
Didn’t bother with the first.
It got me thinking that this would be an ideal reality competition show for oldies. Why does everything have to be aimed at the young?

We wouldn’t have to do anything except sit on a coach and natter. We could take our knitting or play board games.
Shame about the blacked out windows but we’d solve the clues in a flash - unlike the dim contestants who don’t seem to have much of a grasp of languages or European geography.

I take my hat off to the two guys who abseiled out of their cable cars though….I think we’d have to pass on that one.

My biggest challenge would be clambering in and getting out of the bunk beds and I think we’d need more than one tiny loo!! 😂😂

So do you think the beeb would go for it? 😂😂

It had great viewing figures. We will understand the format more in the next series. I was genuinely thrilled for the winner.

So if I watch the next series I'll understand what the first series was about?

Mmm...not sure that's selling it to me.

I should have been clearer - those who watched it will have a clearer understanding of the format, if you didn't watch it you won't. Apologies, would have thought that was obvious.

And the final destination was seen in all its splendour in that episode. I remember the driving is chaotic and dangerous.

Well I liked it. And having been to many of those places back in my camper van days it brought back memories.
The right person won. I'm glad it wasn't Josh.

I watched the first two episodes but no more. It didn't make sense to me- the clues were not helpful and often the answers didn't make sense. I just didn't get it.

Who wants to watch people wearing headsets and staring into their eyes? Also you could see the sore skin around their eyes from wearing the headsets.

I thought it was a waste of license payers money- they could easily have just done it in a studio...

Pittcity I agree with your observations.

Oreo Fri 29-Aug-25 10:37:19

I had recorded it to watch today, but late last night a work colleague told me the outcome, a friend had texted her.🤬
Anyway will watch later. At least the winner was the one I had been cheering on from the very start.😃

Pittcity Fri 29-Aug-25 09:27:17

The right person won but the series wasn't brilliant.
If they make another one they need to give the viewer time to take in the clues and change the games. There were a few that none of the contestants could complete.
There was no sense of jeopardy or anticipation as there is with Traitors or Race Across the World.

Thrilled the right person won.

Yes. 👏👏👏

A worthy winner.

escaped Thu 28-Aug-25 22:12:32

So glad. I think the final success was in the speed of the clue solving.

Pleased with the results and the destination which I’d guessed it might be.

merlotgran Thu 28-Aug-25 20:21:14

I’m looking forward to the final tonight. I can’t warm to Josh though.

Grandmadinosaur Thu 28-Aug-25 19:45:37

Watching the first episode the camera angles brought on a bit of vertigo so I gave up on it. However DH has kept with it and I’ve had one eye on it. I’m looking forward to seeing the final destination and the winner.

MollyNew Thu 28-Aug-25 19:13:07

We're looking forward to the final in our house. We also play along on the BBC Destination X website. It took us a couple of episodes to get the hang of it but now we're really enjoying it.

I wondered how they’d get the bus in.

merlotgran Thu 14-Aug-25 21:04:41

Aaaah!

Does everyone know that to break a piece off you push it against the rest of the Toblerone and not pull it away from it.
Expert Toblerone muncher here🤭

So no need to break your teeth, then?

merlotgran Thu 14-Aug-25 18:56:26

I thought Venice but Nick is right about the bus being too large.

I hadn’t thought of Genoa. MiniMoon could be right about the motto.
Milan was my second choice.

Am I right in thinking that the Matterhorn is no longer on the Toblerone bars? I need ho check next time I go shopping.

I think it does have it, and a bear as well.🐻

Devorgilla Thu 14-Aug-25 16:58:59

I idled away some time trying to work out where the aerial, pentagon shaped, view of the city was. Closest view is Palmanova. Not one I automatically knew. Did they travel on from there? Ruling out Venice but others mentioned so far are runners as well.

Oreo Thu 14-Aug-25 11:54:49

It’s something light to watch while doing a crossword or sorting washing or something 😂
I have never heard of Colmar btw either. But like DrWatson says if you’re going to take part in essentially a geography game then you should have done loads of prep first.
The London cabbie , a Millwall fan annoys me the most.
