Poetry, Tea and Helena Bonham Carter, The true meaning of conversation

It’s a Wonderful Life, my favorite film. A backstory…. And my dream of reading my poetry to Helena Bonham Carter….

My favorite film enchants me. How people can be so true to one another. Jimmy Stewart took my soul home with a love of life his character
passioned in losing what mattered. Then having love return to him.

When I was a little boy, when George Bailey came back to his family after losing them, something happened with me, beyond words.

Years later I was meeting Jimmy Stewart and having a celebration of words in the time we spent talking. He was present, in the attention and reciprocity of our 20 minutes together.

Many years after that, I met a woman named Mary who lived by Fred McMurray’s ranch. Jimmy Stewart used to visit Fred often. All Jimmy Stewart wanted to do was drive around in an old Willys jeep.

At this point in our lives, I cherish memories of
true conversations. Meeting people who have the capacity for engagement, or desire for long talks, exchanging ideas, dreams or just what gets one through the day, well, rarely happens.

Then if you present your true self to another, how they might run away. Supposedly, there are 300,000 people on this online platform. I posted something I wrote after Kate Spade killed herself. It’s “In memory of Lady Kate”
not one person commented.

I wake up each morning and have tea. Today I listened to Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Coleman talking on you tube. I love their emotionally naked chat. I dream of a conversation with Helena. I wonder if Helena ever wakes up in the morning, puts on tea. Then plays the song “Poetry Man” by Phoebe Snow. If life could be a painting, then love would be the frame. And in the end, what you put in, is all that shall remain. Someone must know Helena. Fade out to Izzy singing “ Over the Rainbow. Peace and love to all of us.

I know people rave about this film but I have found it clunky, mawkish and frankly over rated. That some people insist on watching it every year as their “Christmas” film defies comprehension.
I’m sorry you felt the absence of comments on Kate Spade OP, but what was there to say?
A fashion designer and entrepreneur who committed suicide at the age of 55 in 2018.
Suicide is always sad as many bereaved parents, partners or other family members on GN can attest, but it is hard to feel personally bereft about someone about whom I know little other than that I have a couple of her bags.
You have a vivid imagination, OP, so feel free to dream on.
Personally I think we see far too much of both Bonham Carter and Colman (no “e” ) who seems to pop up in everything on film and tv these days.

I couldn’t agree more about ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ RosieahMaw.

Never, ever seen why so many rave about it.

A bit too much to early for me, not sure what this is all about.

That’s why I put a smiley face - it covers all eventualities 😄😄

Maybe we need a "brave face" emoji? To add to the
confused confused confused I am feeling right now.

Prince of Carmel - is there some kind of additive in the tea you're drinking? grin

There’s several films called classics that people rave about.
It’s A Wonderful Life
The Third Man
Casablanca
Ok but can’t rave about them at all.
