As you can imagine from my user-name on here, I'm not happy that this has been cut. I do think though, that there was too much emphasis on celebrities and not enough on actual authors. It's bad enough that supermarket book space is mostly taken up these days by celebrity 'written' novels. It was a huge opportunity to tune into what is actually read by people, rather than celebs trying to pretend they're into Dostoevsky et al. I'm sad it's gone.

I liked seeing what the guests were reading and hearing their opinions and I liked the short 'meet the author' films. I have enjoyed reading some of the recommended books that I would not have read otherwise.

I suppose the BBC sees as a 'minority interest' programme that appeals mainly to an ageing demographic and the ratings are probably not good enough. I shall be very sorry to see it go.

I think the programme would have been better if the amount of books were less and the amount of time was more ...

I loved this program. Typical BBC make OAP's pay to watch a load of c**p m
Anything worth watching they take off.

I too enjoyed this however I didn’t record or factor it into my viewing. Just caught it by chance occasionally. So probably didn’t help, the figures to keep it.

I have emailed the BBC to register my complaint. 👍

I will miss it. I always enjoyed the personal book choices of the guests as there was always titles I haven’t read and the descriptions by the readers enticed me to read a wider variety of books. I love listening to others chat about books.
At times Sara Cox took up too much time being a bit silly, but I always looked forward to each episode.
I’m really irritated by this programme bring axed. We should email the BBC and let them know of our annoyance.

Yes, I will miss it I am an avid reader.

Probably did not have enough viewing figures it's a shame really. I do listen to the book discussions on Radio 4.

The 50 books a year thread on here and Mumsnet often leads me into recommended titles I would never have considered.

Arghhhhhhhhh!!!!! I love this programme! Whenever we get something on TV that is actually good then it has to go. Next step - Get rid of Loose Women and other programmes like them.

Me! I found lots of good books to read through this programme.
Sad to see that it’s been axed. 😫

I have just read that this BBC2 TV programme with Sara Cox has been axed. I have enjoyed every episode and gone on to read many of the titles discussed. Will any one else miss it?
